Insomnia

I am suffering from it. I didn't want to admit it, but over the last week or so it has become increasingly hard for me to fall asleep... even if I am tired.

It is 2:40am and I have just had to google the symptoms to see what it was I was doing to cause it and I pretty much ticked the boxes for everything.

Bedroom must be used only for the good stuff, i.e. sleeping and sex. Unfortunatley writing isn't included and that would be because it's work. And work doesn't belong in the bedroom. (Tempted to make a pun or two but I'm going to leave it.)

Brain must be relaxed. My brain is never relaxed at night, and that would be because I have usually just gotten off the computer from writing for the last couple of hours and my head is still picking through ideas and planning ahead.

Must have set sleeping times, for body clock. I don't.

Don't sleep in even if you've had a bad nights sleep (because of the point above). I do sleep in, because I'm exhausted usually.

One should wake up feeling refreshed from sleep. I have never really felt refreshed, ever. And I really am not feeling that recently.

No naps. I have never taken a nap, I can't sleep during the day.

Don't eat heavy meals and no caffeine. I may have a cup of tea but that's it. I swear.

I have been thinking for a while now I should get one of those cds. You know the ones where you listen to the ocean or whales talking. But then I thought 'hey, I have a meditation cd somewhere'. So it looks like I am going to have to start setting myself strick sleeping times. Getting off the computer at least half an hour before my bed time and playing my meditation cd really low while relaxing so I can drift to sleep.

Think it will work?

  3. Thats gotta be one of the hardest things to deal with. Fatigue affects everything, mental and physical well-being. I hope everything works out.
