Playing 20 Questions with Gabrielle Bisset

Today I am joined by the awesome Gabrielle Bisset!
EM: Welcome to My World, Gabrielle. Thank you so much for stopping by to play twenty questions with me. :-)

Before we begin, could you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm an erotic romance author who focuses on paranormal and sometimes historical. I teach history to college students during the day, so at night I write the sexy stuff.

EM: Are you ready to play 20 questions? *Rubs hands together*

GB: I'm ready. Let's do this!

Which do you find harder to write?

1. First person POV or Third?

First person. It's so infrequent that First Person POV is done well because it's so limiting. I find it really limiting, so I rarely do it.

2. As a male or female?

Female, oddly enough. Men are much easier for me to write, except in the fight scenes. Those are tough.

3. Beginning, middle or end of the story?

End. I always feel like there's more to do.

4. Fight scenes or smex scenes?

Fight scenes. I have a beta who only focuses on fight scenes. His emails are hysterical. Edits are always so much fun when it comes to his comments.

5. Synopsis or blurb?

Synopsis, which I'm convinced is a tool of the Devil. LOL  Blurbs are easy now that I've trained myself to keep them to right around 100 words.

EM: They are the tool of the devil. I hate 'em.

As a writer, do you prefer:

6. Writing in the morning, afternoon or evening?

I'm an evening writer. I have to be since I home school my son in the morning and then teach college in the afternoon.

7. Writing with music, or in peace?

I always have music on. I can't write in silence. It makes me a little crazy.

8. Planning, or Improvising?

I'm a committed plotter. I know what's going on before I begin a book.

9. Juggling a few projects, or concentrating on one at a time?

I stick to one at a time, although I have been known to do a few short things in between.

10. Sticking to one genre, or exploring many?

I tend to stick to one genre. It's just how I work the best.

As a reader, do you prefer:

11. Story being told from female view or male?

I prefer a male view. Females are often written in a way I have a hard time relating to.

12. Good guys or bad boys?

Always bad boys. Just as in real life, I prefer my men mad, bad, and dangerous to know.

13. Feisty females or fragile damsels?

Can we get something in the middle? How about a strong female who doesn't constantly get in the way of the hero and can handle herself? I prefer female characters who don't NEED the hero but WANT them.

14. Stand alone stories or series?

If I love a story, I want many more of them in a series. I love getting so into a series that I feel like I belong to that world.

15. Quick reads or long stories?

It depends, but I generally don't like the tomes.

16. Romance as a side dish or the main course?

Romance as the main course, if it's a romance. Otherwise, romance as it fits.

17. Erotica or soft romance or something in-between?

Erotic romance would be my choice. The story has to be solid, but I want the sexy there too.

18. More action or humor?

I think I like more humor. I like the lighter side of life.

Just for fun:

19. Vampires or Angels?

Vampires all the way!

20. Werewolves or Demons?

Give me those demons any day!  I know weres are very popular, but I love the bad boy and demons work with that. My current Sons of Navarus series actually has the original bad boy of the Underworld, Hades.

What are you currently working on?

I just finished a Hades short that I have for free on my blog and I'm busy writing the fourth book in the Sons series, Blood Prophecy.

Do you have any current release?

My current release is Blood Spirit (Sons of Navarus #3).

I am everything you seek. I am vampire.

Blessed with the gift of telepathy, Terek always knows what a woman wants. His gift has afforded him nightly sensual pleasures and exotic treats for centuries, but beneath the surface he yearns for much more.

Ilona can give him what his soul craves, but only if he trusts his heart. One fateful choice made out of desire puts all he cares for in danger. With a civil war and the threat of Archon hunters at every turn, this Son may lose everything if he can't find the balance between heart and mind.

  5. Great interview ladies.

Sons of Navarus is a "Do Not Miss" series, that I 'highly' recommend.

  6. I totally agree with you on the strength of the heroine. I feel the exact same way. I hate a wishy washy one, but don't want them where they are constantly in the hero's way either. I am so excited about this series!
