Today I am joined by the lovely and very talented, Dianna Hardy who has stopped by and allowed me to pick her brains about Werewolves.
If you haven't already heard about Dianna's "Eye of the Storm Series," then where the heck have you been? Tension, chemistry, toe tingling sex scenes, action, humour, science and three sexy alpha males. . . The story has it all. If you love stories about werewolves (and like them hot and raw) then "Releasing the Wolf" and "Cry of the Wolf" are two books you have to read.
Enough of my gushing. Thank you so much for joining us today, Dianna. It's always lovely to have you over. Now, let's talk about werewolves:

Can you tell us about
“The Eye of the Storm Series?”
In a very small nutshell, the Eye Of The Storm
series is about werewolves, and when animal urges battle with the human higher
mind. It’s about lust and control, and sorrow and change, but also with a hefty
plot that takes all of these themes through two or three mythological
structures.
What about this
particular creature caught your attention? What inspired you to write a story about
Werewolves?
I’ve wanted to write something as blatant and ‘rough around
the edges’ as this series since before I wrote The Witching
Pen, but at the time, being a new author, I strongly felt that I had to
stick to the ‘rules’ of writing within a genre – namely romance. So, I didn’t.
With Eye Of The Storm, I finally decided to break out of those rules.
I knew that I wanted to write about ‘control’, and that this would come in many forms: sex vs. romance, nature vs. genetics, beast vs. man, love vs. lust, pain vs. pleasure, and so on. It immediately came to me, to make the series about werewolves – I mean, what a conflicted beast the werewolf is. If any creature is going to have control issues, it’s going to be the werewolf!

What do you feel are
the pros and cons of being a werewolf?
Pro = awesome supernatural powers that include strength,
heightened senses, etc. We all want “obvious” powers, lol.
Cons = the feeling of isolation and aloneness. Maybe less if
you're in a pack, but that feeling of no one understanding you and not being
able to fit in anywhere, and the yearning for connection and “that bond” – I
think that's something that a lot of people feel, which is why the werewolf is
so relatable.
Do you believe that
werewolves do/or have existed at some point in time?
There is a theory that within Atlantean mythology (and I
believe Atlanta did exist as a time period), that a lot of people abused their
power and animals were genetically / physically bonded with people, either as
punishment, or as part of an experiment. If you look at things that happen now
with cloned sheep, growing ears on the back of mice, and genetically modified
crops and mosquitoes, that's really not so much of a stretch – we are repeating
Atlanta. What we need to remember is that Atlanta fell. It was utterly
destroyed by our actions. So yes, I do believe that werewolves might have
existed at one point in time. Whether they exist now, I don't know – I think a
LOT of things exist that we're not ready to see. I'm a bit of a cryptozoologist
:)
Which character do
you feel you relate to the most?
No idea – all of them!
If you were a
werewolf, what qualities do you feel you would bring to your pack? What role do
you think you would play?
I'd be a rogue wolf, I'm afraid, and it would take a very
special wolf or pack to convince me I'm supposed to be with them. I'm sure I'd
fight the bond like anything.
What do you feel
makes The Eye of the Storm Series stand apart from other werewolf/shifter
stories?
I don't know that it does – I've purposely not read a lot of
shifter stories, maybe just one or two, so I don't really know what's out
there. Maybe the writing style itself, the way the plot is slowly revealed and
the way the book is written, the characters themselves … not sure.
What’s next for the
series?
Book three, Heart Of
The Wolf is up next at the end of December, and I'm sure there'll be two
more books after that. Take a look at the blurb below, and the series should be
read in order for full understanding...
Heart Of The Wolf (Eye Of The Storm #3)
Blurb:
Lydia becomes ever closer to her three mates. However,
with unrest all around, she is struggling to keep her wolves together for her first
full moon in two days’ time.
A trip back home for Ryan could bring much needed support for them all, but at what cost?
As The Trident close in on Ryan's pack, the pack itself becomes divided over Lydia's presence and Lawrence is encouraged to return as the Alpha. But they don't know his secret, and he's doubtful of his ability to protect them. Can he fulfil his rightful role, or will his efforts prove fatal?
Meanwhile, among the arid plains of Egypt, in a long-forgotten city, one man is pitting himself against the beast inside him in order to find salvation, only to realise, so much more is at stake than his soul.
Thank you so much for having me on your blog, Elizabeth :)
