Playing 20 questions with Stephanie Beck!

Today I am joined by the lovely Stephanie Beck...

EM: Welcome to My World, Stephanie. Thank you so much for stopping by to play twenty questions with me : )

Before we begin, could you tell us a little about yourself?

Thanks for having me, Elizabeth. My name is Stephanie Beck. I write a pretty wide range of romance because I find the possibility for romance and love in a wide variety of situations. I’ve been writing two years and have a dozen titles out.

EM: Are you ready to play 20 questions? *Rubs hands together* Mwahaha!

Which do you find harder to write?

1. First person POV or Third?

First-it’s the tenses that screw me up, causing hours of edits.

2. As a male or female?

Male-though not too much harder.

3. Beginning, middle or end of the story?

Middle

4. Fight scenes or smex scenes?

Smex scenes—I love them, but choreographing fight scenes make me smile.

5. Synopsis or blurb?

Blurb

As a writer, do you prefer:

6. Writing in the morning, afternoon or evening?

Morning

7. Writing with music, or in peace?

Peace

8. Planning, or Improvising?

A little of both

9. Juggling a few projects, or concentrating on one at a time?

Always tossing balls around....figuratively of course.

EM: *giggles* Of course : P

10. Sticking to one genre, or exploring many?

The more the merrier.

As a reader, do you prefer:

11. Story being told from female view or male?

Completely depends on the story. I’ve read both and loved both.

12. Good guys or bad boys?

Good guys.

13. Feisty females or fragile damsels?

Moderately feisty—but well short of bitchy.

14. Stand alone stories or series?

Both

15. Quick reads or long stories?

Well developed quickies or fast paced longer stories...give me something good and I’ll read it.

16. Romance as a side dish or the main course?

Main course—without it being too cheesy.

17. Erotica or soft romance or something in-between?

Somewhere in between.

18. More action or humor?

Humor, make me laugh and I’ll hold you in my heart forever.

EM: A skeleton walks in to a bar with a mop and orders a drink..... *tumbleweed skips past* Get it?

Just for fun:

19. Vampires or Angels?

Vamps.

20. Werewolves or Demons?

Werewolves.

What are you currently working on?

Right now I have half a half a dozen stories coming to completion. One is a horror story (it gives me nightmares) another is a feel-good contemporary romance (it makes me giggle) another is a scrapbook-style story telling the tale of a mixed racial couple in the 1970’s while also following the granddaughter of the couple in present day. The other two I have nearly done are an ancient Egypt romance story with aliens and some fantastic sort of truths and last but not least, my alter ego Stephanie J Grace is working on a lovely sweet romance featuring a young widow who is starting her own medical practice and a recently divorced man dealing with his new life. Whew, just seeing it all makes me super tired!

Do you have any current release?

I do. Teaching Ms. Riggs from Lyrical Press released in late September. It’s a suspense romance featuring a chemistry teacher on the run from a stalker and the farmer who hopes to catch her.

Blurb:

It'll take a special man to teach her to live again.

Benfri “Ben” Riggs has come home to Flatthead Falls, Missouri to heal. After her husband's murder, secrets behind the peaceful, successful life she thought they'd shared emerge to leave her deep in debt, infertile, and afraid for her life. Teaching chemistry in her old hometown is her shout of independence, even though she wants to crawl under her bed in fear when the terrorizing phone calls begin.

Mark Dougstat works the land, makes things grow, and isn't ashamed of the occasional mess his shoes cause. Busy making his farm pay enough to support his niece and nephew, he hasn't found the time or inclination to make the time, to find a good woman. Ben Riggs's humor and compassion change that fast.

But they're going to have a battle on their hands. Ben's stalker won't quit. What is between Ben and Mark grows and they push forward in their relationship, learning more secrets along the way. Before they can settle into life together, the stalker will strike again. Blood will be shed and lives changed forever in the blink of an eye. Can they trust each other enough to get them through?

No chickens were harmed in the writing of this book.

Any upcoming releases?

Barely Dreaming from Beachwalk Press is due out November 21st.

Blurb: As dreams come alive, trouble lurks around the corner.

When Neela Raymond and three of her college girlfriends take a camping trip over spring break, they’re abducted by a group of men and held captive for a week. At least that’s what Neela’s been told—she can’t remember any details of the horrifying event. But one thing is very apparent—during that week she became pregnant. Afraid of the possibilities, Neela finds it difficult to attend classes, eat, or sleep.

When Neela finally falls asleep, she wakes in a dream world, where she finds Gabe O’Shay. Though she can’t remember him either, something in her recognizes him.

Gabe and Neela are best friends of a different sort. Created in Neela’s mind when she was just a child, Gabe has always been her dream friend, growing as she did, to eventually become the man of her dreams.

With Gabe’s help, Neela’s memory begins to return, and ugly truths emerge. Snagged in a violent, illegal scheme, Neela will have to struggle for survival. The nightmare is not over yet.

Meanwhile, Gabe has managed to find a tear between the dream world and the real world, but will he arrive too late to help his Neela?
