Christmas Wish List: Day 2

12 Day Wish List - Book 2: Murdering Eve by Kelly Lee

Blurb:

Eve Moore is very likely going insane. In one week’s time, she has clear memories of surviving a murderous attack by her dead husband’s mistress, teleporting to another Realm, learning her best friend isn’t human, and uncovering the existence of trolls, titans and mythical Gods. If she hadn’t gone off her nut, Eve wouldn’t be coming to grips with the fact that her mother had an affair with an immortal and she is apparently their love-child.

But since she’s getting pretty comfortable with it all, she figures she’s probably strapped down somewhere cold and antiseptic with drool dribbling down her chin. Except if she’s locked in sanitarium, as she must be, why is she so damn scared of the God of War that threatened to send her soul to the Underworld? And why does the mere glance from a gorgeous man, one that she was tasked to find and return to Olympus, set fire racing through her veins?

Whether it’s reality or lunacy, Eve has no idea, but she is on one hell of a ride. If only she could get that red-headed harlot who tried to kill her the first time to cease and desist on the murder attempts, she could enjoy her psychosis in peace…

4 Reasons to Read:
Reason number 4: It won the 2011 Readers Favorite award for the best Romance / Fantasy - Sci Fi novel.
Reason number 3: A funny, sarcastic antagonist that will make you love to hate her.
Reason number 2: The characters who deserve to have bad things happen to them... really get the screws put to them in ways that'll make you want to stand up and cheer.
Reason number 1: Hot, steamy love scenes that will take your breath away with imagery so vivid, you'll wonder how you're not spontaneously combusting.

Elizabeth: It was on my wish list as soon as I saw the words "...trolls, titans and mythical Gods..."

Elizabeth's Recommended Read No. 2: Freeze Line by Moira Rogers

Blurb:

She can't survive in his world, he can't stay sane in hers...

A twenty-first century ice age dulls the magic that emanates from the earth. Shane Sullivan is a lone wolf above the freeze line; He has no desire to join the packs that range closer to the border, where feral instincts can turn a man into a monster. Not until the winter solstice, when he stumbles across a dying witch who needs his help to get back to her people--and her magic--in the south.

Nadia is a powerful woman in her own world, but drained by her escape from captivity in a northern lab. She knows it's foolhardy to trust a werewolf, but he's her only chance to survive the vast white wilderness. The farther south they travel, the harder it is for Shane to keep the beast within under control, and as their mutual attraction intensifies, Nadia's no longer sure she wants him to.

Reason:

I love the Moira Rogers team! They always have a huge and sexy dose of paranormal in their stories, but manage to put a unique twist on each of their worlds. From rustic to contemporary, and the wild wild west to a dystopian future... All of their stories are must reads!

Freeze Line is a tasty novella, and completely worth the money. The spark between Shane and Nadia is there from page one, and the heat just keeps rising as you turn the pages. The world building is interesting, and the characters history easy to follow.

Sigh. If only we could all meet some sexy strangers when we're freezin'. I rather liked Shane's way of warming a woman up. ;-)

Elizabeth's Wish List: Beauty Dates the Beast by Jessica Sims

Blurb:

Bathsheba Ward is human, which means dating supernaturals is strictly forbidden–unless the interested party happens to be the powerful head of their Alliance. So when were-cougar Beau Russell insists that she join him for dinner at a fancy French restaurant, she agrees. Not because the man is so incredibly hot he makes her hormones sing. She’s more interested in saving her desk job at an exclusive dating service that caters to a clientele with rather . . . eclectic tastes.

But just try hiding a supernatural family secret when your would-be boyfriend has supersharp animal senses. Then again, try protecting yourself from a bloodthirsty, home-invading mythological creature with just a bottle of liquid silver and a carving knife.

Maybe having an über-sexy supernatural partner isn’t such a bad idea after all. . . .

Reason:

A paranormal dating service. I mean, what else can I say? It's a fab idea, and something I was interested in as soon as I saw those three words.

This is the first book in the series by Jessica Sims. This writer also writes under Jill Myles, who I love! I love her Succubi series - which I will totally be mentioning at some point this week. Her writing is light, and humorous, so as soon as I heard about Beauty Dates the Beast... Bam! It was on my list.

Jessica/Jill has sooo many fun story ideas - which you will see if you look on amazon or her site. And yes, that was totally a hint to go check her site out! You need too! ;-)
