Heroine Love: Ripley

Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in
'The Alien Quadrilogy'.
When I found out that Ripley was originally supposed to be a man... I couldn't get my head around it. Sigourney Weaver is Ripley. Smart. Brilliant. Gone through the same shit repeatedly. Kick-ass Ripley.

I love the alien films. My fave is the second - so I picked the image everyone things of when the think of aliens 2. The great moment where Ripley is staring at the queen, fire gun in hand and she says - previous to the image - "Get away from her you bitch!" Classic, kick-ass line!

Ripley isn't your stereotypical heroine. She manages to survive the first set of aliens, and then her life just goes down hill from there as she is dragged into alien hunting again in the second film, and so on so forth. She isn't a fighter, but she knows how to use a weapon and she knows how to survive. What she does have is guts. The woman has a lot of guts, and confidence. But boy do you need those qualities when you have massive, slimy, acid dripping aliens that have tiny alien heads inside their mouths that spring out and burst through your skull. (Shivers.)

Ripley has to just be the coolest sci-fi heroine there has ever been?!
