My World Guest Interview: Megan Hussey

My guest today is the lovely Megan Hussey . . . .

EM: Megan! Welcome to My World. It is lovely to have you here today : )

MH: Thanks Elizabeth, I’m very pleased to be here.

1. How long have you been writing for?

I think I was born with a pen in my hand lol. I remember making up stories as young as 6 or 7—I would send myself off on little adventures with the Cat in the Hat and my other favorite literary characters.

2. Did you always know that you wanted to be a writer?

Yes; I always was a writer, it just came naturally.

3. What is your favourite genre to read? To write? And why?

Romantic erotica and, um let me think, romantic erotica! LOL I have so many nice fantasies and I love to share them with other ladies; plus I like to offer something different, in the form of realistic heroines and hot, sensitive heroes.

4. Who is your favourite author? Fave book? And why?

It’s so tough to pick one favorite author; aside from all of the writers I work with, I really enjoy the work of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Sabrina Jeffries, Dara Joy, Robin Schone, Connie Mason and Barbara Wood. And my favorite all-time book is Gone With the Wind; it’s just an amazing book in all aspects, one I can read over and over again.

5. How do you get your ideas?

From my own dreams and fantasies, also I’m a major movie fan!

EM: I love movies. I have so many it's unreal. I get a lot of my ideas from dreams, and every now and again I will have day dreams. I was once walking home from work - and I was in the middle of writing CB at the time - and I was imagining I had a sword in my hand and there were a load of vampires heading towards me.

That's not normal, is it? O_o

6. In your opinion what is the hardest part of the writing process?

Probably the editing; sometimes it’s hard to let go of certain descriptions or lines that I love—but my editors are great and they really preserve my point of view.

EM: Oh, editing. I'm the opposite. I sit there wanting to re-write nearly everything. I'm idiotically critical about my writing. How I have managed to write one story let alone five is just... madness.

7. In your opinion what is the best part of the writing process?

Getting a story idea; it’s so exciting! I just can’t wait to get it down on paper.

8. Are you a planner or a panster?

A panster, definitely; no story boards or outlines for me, I just cross my fingers with one hand and write with the other!

EM: hehe that's me all over. : P

9. Do you prefer to concentrate on one story, or juggle a few?

I’m always juggling, it keeps my mind and ideas fresh to switch off between stories.

10. Tell us about one of the most favourable scene you have written.

Probably the big seduction scene in Graphic Sexuality from Phaze, in which Marie finally succumbs to Noble’s advances. He draws her in by doing a little role play, posing as a shameless male hooker to seduce her; then they have a hot scene in her car.

11. Out of all the characters you have created, who is your favourite and why?

One of my recent favorites is Noelle, the Victorian seamstress from Noble Romance’s Noelle’s Nocturne. She’s a real, strong woman with a wicked sense of humor; plus she gets to make time with a hunky Victorian vampire musician! Go Noelle!

12. If you could meet any fictional character, who would you meet and why?

Oooh there are so many, but Dara Joy’s Rejar is definitely near the top of my list. This author helped inspire me to write paranormal romance, and Rejar is one of her best heroes; strong, sensitive, sexy and downright feline.

Are you working on anything at the moment?

Yes, I’m working on two new merman stories for the expanded print version of Mermance, my newest anthology from Melange Books. One is called “10 ½” and the other is “The One that Got Away.” Get ready for some more hottie hot mermen, Ladies!

Then I’ll start work on “The Muse By Moonlight,” the third book in my Nuit series from Phaze—male stripper vampires, anyone?

Do you have any current release?

My most current releases are Mermance, my book of fantasies that pairs up gorgeous, sensual mermen with everyday ladies of the land; Coffee, Tea or Me?, an anthology of hot paranormal stories co-written with a fantastic lady named Mae Powers; Graphic Sexuality from Phaze, about hunky graphic novel heroes who come to life to seduce female comic books fans; and Love Revisited: Valentin and Juditha, the sequel to Prince of Dreams—it’s a naughty Renaissance time travel, about a school teacher who meets the prince of her dreams (hence the title!).
