Spook-a-interview with Cara Marsi!

EM: Welcome to the My World Halloween Bash, Cara! It's wonderful to have you here! : )

CM: Thank you for having me – it's great to be here on this spookiest of all times of the year.

What have you come as today? And why?

I’m a really sexy witch, curvaceous, with long black hair. I can tell your fortune and whip up a love potion, much like Love Potion Number Nine in the song. You thought the song was just a cute diddy. No way. I wrote it.

EM: I love having my fortune read! *Holds out hands* : P

Before we begin, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m of indeterminate age and live somewhere along the East Coast of the US. I have a husband named Joe and a black cat named Killer. If you go to my website, http://www.caramarsi.com/ you can see a picture of Killer all pumped up for Halloween. I’ve been making up stories in my head for as long as I can remember. Finally, at an advanced age, I decided to put my stories on paper.

EM: lol check out his eyes. Aww. I have two black cats called MJ and Phantom. They're total teddy bears though : P

1. What's your favourite scary movie?

I don't like scary movies! I like movies with happy endings, just as I like books with happy endings. I don’t mind being scared a little, but I absolutely hate violent movies.

2. Was there a particular horror movie, or character that scared you when you were younger?

Yes, Dracula’s Daughter. My aunt was babysitting us and she let me stay up. We watched an old Thirties movie, Dracula’s Daughter. Scared me to death. To this day I’m still scared of vampires.

3. Which horror would you be afraid to be stuck in?

The Exorcist. I believe demon possession is real.

EM: I watched a couple of minutes of that film, but I will never again. The guy at the beginning put me off. Plus there was some freaky stuff going on around that film O_o

4. Who do you feel is the best horror villain? And why?

Any horror villain who seems normal and ordinary, but is totally evil.

5. Why do you feel that ghosts are so popular in both literature & film/tv?

Because I think people want to believe there’s an afterlife and ghosts affirm that.

6. Why did you decide to write a story about/featuring this particular being?

I love wolves, real wolves, and support organizations that help them. So it was only natural that for my first paranormal, Cursed Mates, I’d write about a tortured hero who shifts into a magnificent white wolf.

7. Do you believe these beings actually exist?

I don’t believe werewolves exist, but I believe vampires exist which is why I’m so scared of them.

8. What attracted you to the paranormal genre? Why do you write this particular genre?

I wanted to write something different from romantic suspense, just for a change. And it was fun creating my own world. A writer has a lot more wiggle room with a paranormal. However, Cursed Mates does have a mystery and is suspenseful so I didn’t venture completely away from romantic suspense. One reviewer called Cursed Mates downright scary in parts, so I guess I did my job of writing a scary story. But it’s a good love story too.

EM: It's on my too buy list : D I love that cover!

9. Who is your favourite paranormal/horror writer & why?

I like Laura Resnick. She writes a light paranormal series with Esther Diamond, an actress, as the protagonist. I really enjoy that series because Esther is funny, the writing is superb, and the guy Esther lusts after is hot.

10. Tell us about one of the most favourable scene you have written.

I like the scene in Cursed Mates when my heroine, Kyla, realizes that the man she loves is the werewolf she has to kill. I’m also partial to the transformation scene where Nick transforms into the white wolf. I had a good time writing that one.

11. Out of all the characters you have created, who is your favourite and why?

I tend to fall in love with all my heroes. Nick, from Cursed Mates, is one of my all-time favorites because he’s so tortured yet ready to give his life for the woman he loves. Logan from Logan’s Redemption has a special place in my heart. He’s a warrior, a product of the mean streets of Philadelphia, a man who’s had to raise himself up, yet still wrestles with his inner demons. I love tales of second chances and redemption, and all my characters redeem themselves in some way by the end of the book.

12. If you could meet any fictional character, who would you meet and why?

Han Solo from the first Stars Wars movie. Harrison Ford played Han Solo as so sexy and cocky and adorable. I loved his lopsided grin. Yet, he was such a warrior, fighting for those he cared about, especially Princess Leia. I thought their’s was a terrific love story.

EM: My mum watched that film when she was 12, and she has been in love with Harrison Ford ever since. : P It's so cute lol He was a dish in that film though.

Are you working on anything at the moment?

I’m working on a very steamy novella about two people stranded together during a January nor’easter at the beach. Lots of explicit sex, but hopefully a good love story that will have readers sighing at the end.

Do you have any current release?

Loving Or Nothing, a contemporary romance. If you like classic, heartwarming stories of love found and second chances, this is for you.

Blurb:

Tami Morrelle is a struggling business owner who’s trying desperately to hold onto the only thing she has left that ties her to her parents...a beachfront home on the coast.
