12 Day Wish List - Book 1: Barely Dreaming by Stephanie Beck

Blurb:

As dreams come alive, trouble lurks around the corner.

When Neela Raymond and three of her college girlfriends take a camping trip over spring break, they’re abducted by a group of men and held captive for a week. At least that’s what Neela’s been told—she can’t remember any details of the horrifying event. But one thing is very apparent—during that week she became pregnant. Afraid of the possibilities, Neela finds it difficult to attend classes, eat, or sleep.

When Neela finally falls asleep, she wakes in a dream world, where she finds Gabe O’Shay. Though she can’t remember him either, something in her recognizes him.

Gabe and Neela are best friends of a different sort. Created in Neela’s mind when she was just a child, Gabe has always been her dream friend, growing as she did, to eventually become the man of her dreams.

With Gabe’s help, Neela’s memory begins to return, and ugly truths emerge. Snagged in a violent, illegal scheme, Neela will have to struggle for survival. The nightmare is not over yet.

Meanwhile, Gabe has managed to find a tear between the dream world and the real world, but will he arrive too late to help his Neela?

4 Reasons to Read:

1.) Man of My Dreams--Literally, Gabe is Neela's dream man.
2.) Cupcakes--eat one while you read the last two chapters and you'll be right at home with Neela and Gabe.
3.) Ass Kicking--Neela is small and sweet, right until she has to put on her ass stomping boots.
4.) Steamy and Sweet--I'd say Barely Dreaming is like hot chocolate with the nice kick of warm whiskey, perfect for a cool winter night.

Elizabeth's Recommended Read No. 1: Silver Shark (Kinsmen #2) by Ilona Andrews

Blurb:

Claire Shannon is a killer. She uses no weapons, only her mind.

Born on a planet locked in a long war, Claire is a psycher, a woman with the ability to attack minds and infiltrate a biological computer network where psychers battle to the death. But when the war abruptly ends, Claire must hide her psycher's ability to survive. She is deported to a new planet, a vivid beautiful place, where she meets Venturo Escana, a powerful psycher, whose presence overwhelms both her mind and her body.

She thought she had left war and death behind, but now she must fight for her new life and this battle might just cost her everything...

Reason:

I'm an IIona Andrews fan, so whatever the wife and husband team write; I'll buy. Their stories are always fresh, and interesting, and they have the right amounts of action, humour and romance.

Silver Shark - like it's prequel, Silent Blade - is an awesome futuristic novella. And like the prequel, I read it in one go. The world building is fascinating. The characters are realistic, and have awesome powers. It's not heavy, or over complicated. The story is easy to follow. The history easy to understand.

All in all it's a fab read, and wonderful for the price.

Elizabeth's Wish List: Heart of Steel (Iron Seas #2) by Meljean Brook

Blurb:

As the mercenary captain of the Lady Corsair, Yasmeen has learned to keep her heart as cold as steel, her only loyalty bound to her ship and her crew. So when a man who once tried to seize her airship returns from the dead, Yasmeen will be damned if she gives him another opportunity to take control.

Treasure-hunter Archimedes Fox isn’t interested in the Lady Corsair — he wants her coldhearted captain and the valuable da Vinci sketch she stole from him. To reclaim it, Archimedes is determined to seduce the stubborn woman who once tossed him to a ravenous pack of zombies, but she’s no easy conquest.

When da Vinci’s sketch attracts a dangerous amount of attention, Yasmeen and Archimedes journey to Horde-occupied Morocco — and straight into their enemy’s hands. But as they fight to save themselves and a city on the brink of rebellion, the greatest peril Yasmeen faces is from the man who seeks to melt her icy heart…

Reason:

I want this book! I want this book! I need it!

As soon as I got my hands on "Here there be Monsters..." - which is part of the Burning Up Anthology - I was hooked. The novella that kick started the Iron Seas series is sexy and fascinating, and is one massive juicy hook for the first book; The Iron Duke, which was unbelievable! Hot. Intriguing. Fresh. It's mouth watering good!

Now, I was a little hazy, like a lot of people, about Steampunk. But hey, we have to start somewhere, and I honestly think if anyone is looking to try the genre you have to start with The Iron Seas Series. Meljean is one of the authors that I would love to just steal her brain. I mean the entire universe she has created just blows my mind! I don't even know where to begin with why it has to be a must read, apart from... You must read this series. It's mind blowing!!

Heart of Steel is the second book in the series, and it sounds so delicious... Did I mention I needed to read this book?
