Tuesday Teaser: Let Me In

Every Tuesday I will share a teaser from Work in Progress' only.
So it will be teasers from all unpublished manuscripts. Nothing from already published books.

This weeks teaser continued on from last weeks, which you can read here.

Taken from a WIP that I keep hacking away at every now and again. The characters are active in my mind I just seem to be up against a wall with it at the moment. It currently stands at just over 10K and the working titles is, Let Me In.

Please remember it is still a rough draft so there will be mistakes and details are subject to change.

~ * ~

My head bobbed in agreement. With one deep breath I forced myself forward. My legs shook as I made my way through the crowd; twisting, and weaving between the clusters of people. Butterflies danced in my stomach and my nerves were so frantic I could feel them fluttering beneath every inch of my skin.
Walking up the four steps that lead to the bar area, the crowd broke and I saw my sexy stranger leaning against the bar, his focus on the redhead beside him. My steps faltered as my gaze wandered down the woman’s physic. Toned, tanned, curves in all the right places and legs that went on for miles. Her lips were deep red and full, her hair was rich and vibrant and perfect. She was stunning. She oozed confidence and sex appeal, and here I was, uncomfortable in a slip of a dress with too much makeup on and my hair full of hairspray; broken-hearted and desperate for someone to save me.
What was I doing? This wasn’t me. I wasn’t that type or woman; sex as revenge, sex out of anger, sex as an answer for my misery. That wasn’t me, even if at moments like this I really wished I was able to let myself go.
Turning with the intention of heading back to the table, I stopped again. Paige would kill me if I walked back over there, or she would try and play matchmaker, which would just be humiliating, or worse, she just wouldn’t shut up about it, which meant there was only one thing left to do; leave.
Mind made up I took a step, and immediately regretted it as I fell forward. The dark club floor rose up to meet my forehead with a crack. Lights twinkled behind my eyelids and I was vaguely aware of someone calling my name, while others were busy asking me if I was all right.
I groaned, flattening my palms on the floor and pushing myself up. My knees and legs throbbed as I shifted into a kneeling position. I placed my hand on my head, hissing as pain splintered through my scalp. This night seriously couldn’t get any worse.
“Are you all right?”
I looked at the black clad legs that stopped beside me, and slowly lifted my head up to see the sexy stranger standing beside me. A hint of concern and confusion flittered across his face.
I was wrong, the night had just gotten as bad as it was going to get.
“Yeah, er-I just miscalculated a step.”
“Here, let me help you.” He placed the drinks in his hands on a nearby table, before offering me his hands.
“Thank you.” I accepted his hands and carefully stood up.
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
“I bumped my head and-“ I looked down at my legs, surprised to see that I hadn’t scraped them-“my knees are a little sore, but I’m fine. Really. Just a little embarrassed right now.”
His lips curved at the corner. “Nothing to be embarrassed about.”
“Easy for you to say. You didn’t just fall down some stairs in the middle of a crowded club.”
“True, but at least we will have something to laugh about later.”
A smile fluttered across my lips. “I guess. Thanks for your help.” I looked at the floor, grabbing my purse before someone else did. “But I better-“
“I thought you were having a drink with me.”
“Well, I was thinking about it and I don’t think it’s a good idea. Plus, I should probably go home after the fall, I bumped my head pretty hard.”
“Why don’t you think it is a good idea for us to have a drink?”
“I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, and-“
“That’s why we have a drink. So, we can get to know one another.”
“Look, I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t do this.”
His lips twisted in to a panties soaking smile. “Do what?”
 God he was gorgeous.
“This.” I waved my hand between us. “Hook up with strangers. I don’t do that.”
He picked up one of the drinks from the table and held out a glass of white wine. “Maybe you should make an exception just this once.”
I accepted the glass only to place it back on the table. “Listen, I get that you have your hopes up for getting laid, but-”
Words died as he moved closer to me. His cologne tickled my nostrils making my mouth water. “Who has broken you?”
“Excuse me?”
“You are a beautiful woman with a body that could turn men into bumbling fools; slaves willing to do anything for you, and yet, fear hides in your eyes.” He cupped my face with his free hand; the touch more welcoming then I dared to admit. “Such sensual eyes.” He traced my bottom lip with the pad of his thumb. “So, who has broken you?”
His iris burned like liquid fire as he stared down at me; smooth amber with perfect golden flecks.
“My fiancé left me six months before we were supposed to get married. He had been seeing someone behind my back. I–I'm kinda still getting over it, I guess.”
He slipped his fingers into my hair, gently coaxing my head back. “Your fiancé is a fool.”
The breath hitched in my throat as his mouth closed over mine. The press of his lips was surprising; soft almost restrained and yet dizzying. The graceful tease of his tongue as he licked the seal of my lips caused my stomach to knot. My core tightened, and without thinking I clutched at his suit lapels and leaned in to him. Opening my mouth, I granted him access, loving the way his tongue danced with my own.
Fire consumed me, dancing along every one of my nerve endings. I felt as though I were being consumed, devoured. The unmistakable feel of need and want washed through me like a tidal wave and I wanted to break. I wanted to feel everything; every ounce of sadness and anger, fear and longing, I wanted to unleash it all on to this man who I didn’t even know.
The knowledge both frightened and excited me. I didn’t want to care anymore. I just wanted the pain to go away. I wanted to feel wanted.
He broke the kiss, and I took a sharp breath. My chest rose and fell as I stared up at him. My breasts felt heavy, and my body felt trapped within the idiotic dress that clung to me.
My gaze wandered over his face, finishing once more on his eyes; those hypnotic eyes. “I don’t even know your name.”
“Lucas.”
“Amelia.”

He slid his hand from my hair, cradling my chin in his hands. “Have a drink with me, Amelia. Let me love you for one night.”

Update on why I'm so silent

So it has been a long time since I have done an update post. I think the last one I did was after Blood Secrets (Blood Series: Book Two) was released?

At the time of Blood Secrets release back in April 2016 I had applied for a job, which I was offered and accepted; the first six months - my probationary period - was a little nerve wrecking as all probationary periods are, but needless to say, I passed with flying colours and went in to 2017 knowing I had job security.

Why am I telling you this? Well, I think you all know by now that I have always had a day job; those jobs I do full time and although I wish it were different, writing is a part-time/side "job" for me. I enjoy my new job; I'm a supervisor and I have very flexible shifts, but due to the nature of my job - working evenings in to the early hours of the morning - and being in charge of organizing events etc needless to say that my time for writing has been squished down to "when I get a chance to, I will."

This might not sound surprising to you as you all know by now I'm not one of these authors that is publishing a book every month - god I wish - and although I know I don't have to explain myself since I have a life outside writing, but also all authors work differently and can take anywhere between weeks and years to write, complete and publish a book; I like to keep you in the loop, and also I like to apologize for the delay and to thank you for your patience and ongoing support. I know some of you are eagerly awaiting the next Blood Series book and I hate to keep you waiting. It may not seem like it, but I want it finished just as much as you do; the good news is I have started it and I am hoping to finish and publish it this year, but it dawned on me the other day that it has already been a year since the last book, Blood Secrets, was released and I felt sad about it - and freaked out by how quick this last year has flown.

I apologize from the bottom of my heart for the delay with the next book, but please know, I am 2 chapters in already and I do keep posting teasers on the Blood Series Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/TheBloodSeries/

So the silence is due to not having much to really update you on at present; at least not in the book sense.

What else is happening/in store for 2017?

My website has been freshened up: www.e-morgan.com

I recently received the rights back for my contemporary erotic romance, short story, Truth or Dare? which I plan to slap a new cover on and re-release this summer.

I will be getting the rights back for my sweet contemporary romance novella, Stepping Stones, which I will be re-releasing before Christmas in paperback as well as an ebook.

If you live in the UK and would love to attend a free Author Signing Event I've organized - affectionately known as SASE - on Saturday 23rd September 2017 then check out the details here: www.booksigning.co.uk

Lastly, I'm writing the next book in the Blood Series, Cross My Heart (Blood 1.5). At the very least I aim to finish it this year; at most I hope to publish it around Halloween, but if not then it will be early 2018. So send me creative energy and good vibes. :)

I shall aim to update y'all a little more often and with happier news.

Thank you once again for being awesome and supportive readers!

Where is Blood Book 2?

Due to the lack of updates and promotion on here, my website, facebook, and all my other online homes I think it might be safe to say that what I am about to say will come as no surprise.... Blood Book 2 will not be releasing this month.

*hangs head in shame*

Since my last update post, which you can read here, things have gotten... I'm not going to say worse, because the things that have happened across the last two and half months - as unwelcoming and hard as they have been - are indeed fixable - and I have been working hard to fix these little bumps in the road. While trying to deal with life and all that is going on at the present moment, I have been adding words to Blood Book 2, but unfortunately due to these outside problems I haven't been able to meet my deadline. I hate that I haven't. I hate that I am having to tell you - yet again - that the date has been pushed back for Blood Book 2, especially because some of you are eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the Blood Series.

When I made all these decisions for my life back in May I was under the conclusion that things would have worked out the way I had planned - foolish thought really - which included that I would now be super organized in regards to my writing. My writing was why I made these decisions. You see I had this idea that I would roll out of bed each day and just make words flow. I never included the need to eat or go for bathroom break, off chance visits from family or friends, phone calls, bad or unwanted news that may arrive, how I would feel on a day to day basis etc. Reality wasn't included in this plan. And although I am not a disorganized person - because I'm not - things just haven't clicked and gone as smoothly as I would have liked.

So firstly I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for the delay with this book.
Secondly, I am making a promise to both myself and you, my wonderful readers, that I will never set a release day or hint at a release date for any of my upcoming projects until I am on the last chapter of the story.
Thirdly, Blood Book 2 will be released before the end of 2015. Even if it is New Years Eve. December 31st. This book will be released. My god, it will.

I have - by the look of my notes - got about roughly 5 - possibly 6 - chapters left to write. The End is in sight. I am almost there. Once I have sent the manuscript off to my editor for edits I will be able to sort the cover reveal - prizes and fun ;) - and set a release date for real.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of rubbish news. Thank you for your patience. I hope when you do read this book you will feel it was worth the wait.

Have a wonderful week. And keep your eyes peeled for my victory "I'm finished" post. It will come. :)

Blood Book 2 & a surprise re-release!

The last time I wrote a blog I think I stated I was going to try and write at least one blog a week or fortnight.... and a month has passed. Yeah, epic fail on my part. So I'm going to change that statement to I will try and write at least one blog a month and hopefully it will be somewhat interesting.

The purpose of today's post is to say that I finally hit the half way point with Blood Book 2. Yay!

Well, for the sake of a goal I said to myself that the minimum length of this book would be 60,000 words. The book currently stands at 30,000 words, but I know for a fact by the time I reach the end it will be over 60K, maybe even 70K, but only time will tell.

Why have I only reached 30K? Why am I no further?

If you recall my last personal blog I was talking about making some changes to my life and well, I put things in action and have already started some of these new things I decided I had to try. So everything has felt very much up in the air at the moment and I feel like I can't quiet get my balance. It's been a tad stressful, and a little time consuming as I am trying to get to grips with chance, and balance my days and weeks out. Needless to say exhaustion has been a problem, and well, I've procrastinated a little. I know, it's terrible. I'm terrible. I'm aware I've been doing it so I am pushing myself to sit and at least try and write a couple of hundred words a day, and the last few days it has worked a treat.

So, 30K at present is the halfway point. If the book ends up being 70K then naturally the half way point changes, but for now all that matters is I am "halfway" through the book, and I have to say things are now going to start getting.... bloody. ;)

Will all this effect Blood Book 2 being released?

Nope. I always said that the second book in the series would be released in Summer 2015 and so it shall. All I will say is that it is more likely to be released in September instead of August, because I want to give my beta reader and editor enough time to read and do what they must. If it turns out the book will be ready for an earlier release I will of course bring it out sooner, but September is the tentative month of release, the date will be announced along with the title and blurb during the cover reveal. Yes, I have ordered the cover - I'm soooo excited to see what Mina Carter creates - which means as soon as I know it is ready and I am able to share it with you all I will be setting a date for the cover reveal. At this point in time I am aiming to have it at the end of June. So keep your eyes peeled for the invite. ;)

So basically, no one panic. I will be releasing Blood Book 2 this summer. So help me god, it is happening.

Did you mention something about a Blood Book 1.5?

I did. I have been dropping, well they aren't really hints, but I have been slipping those digits in every now and again. I always knew that there would be a novella/short novel between Cranberry Blood and it's sequel and the reason for that - and I don't want to spoil it for those of you who haven't read Book 1 in the series - is between Chapter 20 and the Epilogue some of the Pack go hunting around the UK and do something that will have consequences. So, while the main arc of the story continues with book 2, a sub arc will come into play for book 1.5, but it does tie in to everything that has happened so far and everything that will continue to happen. There is a new leading male and female and I have to say that from what they have showed me so far of their story, I'm itching to start writing.

The book also has a title, which means a cover has been ordered for it, but I won't be giving any details away until after the release of Blood Book 2. I am aiming to release Blood 1.5 in Winter 2015 and at the moment that is looking be December, but as always if anything changes you will know.

Surprise Re-Release!

Due to lack of/low sale the rights for my erotic suspense novella, Creak have been reverted back to me. Creak - which I originally classed as an erotic thriller - was an experiment of sorts. I wanted to write a creepy story. I'm not a horror writer, nor am I a thriller writer, that much is clear to me lol but I think I achieved the creep factor, which I was happy enough with.

So, I plan to re-release Creak this Halloween. October 31st. It will have a brand spanking new cover, and will be classed as an erotic suspense - it features a ménage, but it is more of a book that just has you feeling uneasy and unsure rather than scared out of your mind - and it will also be at a lower price. Yet again, I feel it was priced to high for the word count and so I will be rectifying that when I self-publish the book.

I think that is everything. Blood Book 2 will still be getting released this Summer. Creak my erotic suspense if getting revamped and re-released on October 31st, and by that point I hope to at least have the cover reveal organized and therefore news to share in regards to Blood Book 1.5. So, keep your ears open and your eyes peeled; more news to follow.

Hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. : D

Update!

It's been months since I did an update. In fact  I think the last one I did was November last year. So bad. I apologize for my silence. The days go quicker than I would like, and I still find my time has been stolen by other matters, but I am in the process of changing that.

New/Latest Releases:

Razel Dazzle, my modern retelling of the fairytale Rapunzel was released in November last year, and my naughty little erotic short story, Truth or Dare? was released this January. Both can be bought from a variety of online retailers.

A BIG Update!

It’s taken me a little while to get to write this post because, well, my day job is continuing to consume time and energy from me, and I just haven’t found a moment to sit and write this update until today.

You might have noticed that the book covers for She-Wolf and Cranberry Blood, the prequel and first book in my Blood Series, have gone missing from this blog, my website, facebook, goodreads and well, are no longer available to purchase along with my sweet contemporary romance, Stepping Stones. Well, the reason for that is that Noble Romance Publishing has decided to close its doors and as of August 21st the rights to these three books have been reverted back to me.

Ever since last July my faith in Noble has slowly disappeared. I’m not going in to vast amount of details in regards to this, because I have no doubt you may have heard all about it from another author, but what I will say is after the release of Cranberry Blood I found myself torn about writing the untitled sequel due to what has been going on behind scenes. I felt that I didn’t want to write anything else that they would earn money from. So my only other option with have been to put the series on hold until the rights had run out, which would have been five years from now, and then continue. This was something I really didn’t want to do. I didn’t want to make anyone wait that long for the rest of the books.

So, as you can imagine I am relieved and thrilled that I now own the rights to these two books once more, which means I can now continue with the series without any worry.

Separate from receiving my rights back for the above, I requested the rights back to my debut novella, Razel Dazzle, in May this year, which is why you won’t find this story on sale, or see the cover anymore.

This book has hardly sold in the two years it has been published. I will hold my hands up and say that because it was my first book it didn’t get the promotion or attention it needed. And I will hold my hands up and say there could be a number of reasons for lack of sales, but the main reason, I believe, was the price.
Razel Dazzle is a 23,000 story, and it was on sale for $4.99. The price is too high in my opinion. Especially since Cranberry Blood is 93,000+ words and it was on sale for $5.99, which for that size I think is reasonable, but it is 60,000 word difference and only a $1 less. It made no sense to me.

So, in the space of five months I have received the rights back to four of my books. Exciting, but at the same time a little scary because it kinda feels like I’m starting all over again, but then again, what’s the harm in that? A fresh start is a good thing, especially when I originally had big plans for my Blood Series.

I guess the big question is; what now?

Razel Dazzle

I am in the middle of getting this book ready for reissue. Yep, I am journeying into Self-publishing. I always said I would if I got the rights back to my stories, and well, I did and I will be lowering the price of this story to well under half of what it originally was.

The manuscript is currently with a fab editor and friend of mine. I have a beautiful cover, which I can’t wait to show you all, and basically, I am at the beginning of sorting promotional material and tours out.
My aim is to release this book toward the end of October. I don’t want to set a date just yet until I get the notes back from my editor, and until I have everything sorted.  With this being the first book I self-publishing I really want to make sure that everything is neat and tidy, and at the best it can be.

So, as soon as I set the date you will know because I am planning on doing a cover reveal and giving this baby the attention it should have gotten the first time round.

~ * ~

Stepping Stones

My Sweet Contemporary Romance will be resubmitted the moment I have sorted one tiny little glitch out. So, more news on that when I have it.

~ * ~

The Blood Series

When I originally wrote these books I had so much in my head that I wanted to do in regards to releasing and promoting them. I have said it on many occasions, but Cranberry Blood was the first book I ever wrote, which means it has a very special place in my heart. So, I am more than thrilled that I do have the rights back for these books, because I will be self-publishing them.

For those of you who have read either of the books, or both, and are following the series I just want to say how deeply sorry I am that you have had to wait this long for the sequel or rather, to find out about the sequel. I never intended for such a long gap between books, but as I said above, I didn’t want to send my book to a publisher who I didn’t trust any more.

So, the plan for these books is rather simple; I intend to read through both, edit and tweak, and then send them to my editor. My hope and goal is to have them both out again early 2014 followed shortly by the untitled sequel.

I started making notes for the sequel ages ago. All I need to do is refresh my head a little and take it from there. I love these books. I am very excited to go back to them and I hope to have more news in regards to the sequel very soon.

Other news

Truth or Dare?

I am currently waiting for my edits for my erotic short story, “Truth or Dare?” which was contracted with Decadent Publishing. If you pop back on Sunday I might just be sharing a one off, sneak peek snippet. ;-P More news as I have it.

Let Me In (Work in Progress)

This is the project I have been playing with for longer than I would like to admit. I like the story, but it is slow going. Now that I have my rights back for The Blood Series my main focus is getting those books back out and getting the sequel finished.

I might dabble with this book in-between, but there is a big chance that it is going to end up on the back-burner along with a couple of other projects I have mentioned this last year.

I will get around to them, but The Blood Series is now my priority.

Competitions/Blog Hops

Update!

It's been a while since I have done an update post and the reason for that is that things have been a) hectic at the day job, b) slow progress is being made with projects, and c) things have basically been a little crazy all around.

I feel like every time I start one of these posts I am basically saying the same things, but the fact is life is just being idiotic life at the moment. I'm spending more hours at work then in front of my computer meaning that by the time I get home my energy is very low and words are rather hard, but in saying that, I am working on a new project at the moment and making slow progress, so it isn't all bad. Although, in truth, I also prefer to do updates when I have more than one thing to tell y'all, which today I do. ;-P

Coming Soon!

I briefly mentioned - somewhere - that I was working on a naughty little short story called Truth or Dare? Well, I finished it earlier on this year and I am thrilled to say that it has been contracted with Decadent Publishing. Yay!

Truth or Dare? is a fun and sexy little short. The leads, Dani and Cameron, are constantly working each other up in all the right and wrong ways. Dani has just moved into a new apartment and after the guests of her house warming party leave, Cameron suggests a little game of truth or dare, which is to be fuelled by some tequila. Who knows what they will get up to . . . ;-P

Yeah, I had some fun writing this one. ;-P No release date is set yet with the book only just being contracted, but you can be sure that once I have a date and cover and all the details, you will know.

For now, I shall leave you with the very rough blurb:

Do you dare tell the truth?

A house-warming party was the last thing Dani wanted, but what she didn’t expect upon clearing her apartment was to be roped into a tequila fuelled game of truth or dare.

Just harmless fun? Not when Cameron, the guy of her fantasies and the jerk who rejected her a year ago, is the one provoking her into playing.

When the game turns intimate and their friends leave them alone, thing suddenly turn serious. Is it bravado pushing them forward? The deep hidden desire for one night of fun? Or will a dare give both Dani and Cameron the courage they need to tell the truth?

~ * ~

Also, due to low sales - which I personally feel was due to the high price of the book - I have gotten the rights back for my urban fairytale/contemporary/erotic romance novella, Razel Dazzle, and I will be re-issuing it with a fab new cover - which I already have and boy, do I love it - and at a very low price.

I have no set date for the re-release, but I am aiming for the end of September/beginning of October. This will be the first book I will e self-publishing and even though it is a re-release I want to make sure that I do it right. So, as soon as I know the date you will. :-)

Work in Progress

I am still in the middle of writing Let Me In, which is another project I mentioned earlier this year, and I think in my last update. Let Me In, is a dark erotic paranormal featuring an Incubus and a couple of Succubus'. I did start this story in November, but due to work, and finding the right angle it has a while to get to that point where everything has just clicked, but I'm happy to say that it has, and that the story continues to slowly unveil itself to me.

I originally planned for Let Me In to be the first of three books, kinda like three parts, but at the moment there is a possibility it could be one book, or perhaps two. I'm still figuring everything out as I go. So, we shall wait and see.

I'm mainly concentrating on Let Me In at the moment. The Overseers Series is currently on hold until 2014. The reasons for that decision will be explained later on this year. All other projects - including the next book in The Blood Series - are on the back burner at the moment. Mainly because of lack of time and energy, which means that I have to move things around a little.

Giveaways!

I'm taking part in Decadent Publishings and All Romance Ebooks Shifter Month. What’s better than spending an entire month reading hot shapeshifter romance? The Next Big Thing Blog Hop: WIP: Charged

The awesome Chris Lange tagged me last week in her TNBT post, and today it is my turn to tell you about either a) my latest release, or b) my current work in progress.

I have opted to talk about my current WIP, but as I have three different projects that I am currently working on I have decided to talk about the biggest protect.

What is the working title of your book?

Charged (Generation Breed: The Turning Point)

Where did the idea come from for the book?

In all and complete honesty the idea for this book began due to a submission call for superhero stories. I am a big fan of comic books. Every weekend my brother and I would watch the X-Men and Spiderman cartoons, and let’s not forget “The new adventures of superman.” I loved that series.

Needless to say, I’m a fan of this particular genre. So, I decided I wanted to write my own superhero story, but that was the simple part. Coming up with an idea that I was happy with took a good while, so long in fact that I missed the deadline for the submission, but that didn’t matter to me. I wanted to write this book.

What genre does your book fall under?

Excellent question, and to be honest I can’t currently place it. It’s dystopian futuristic with a splash of paranormal, and a heap of romance.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?

If I could pick, then Justin Hartley would play my leading male; Christopher Jackson. He is the right height, and build, and he has a killer grin that would work perfectly since Chris is a leopard. Playful, but feral, and totally yum.

And for my leading lady, Delaney Li, I would pick Isabella Leong. Yet again, she fits the bill perfectly.

Both Justin and Isabella are fab actors/actress and it would be super cool to work with them.

(Both images were taken from Google images search.)

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?

I suck at synopsis and blurbs, and since I am still learning about these characters as I go I haven't yet figured out the hook for this story. So, instead I will leave you with a quote that sums up the feel of the book:-

"People fear what they don't understand, and hate what they can't conquer." - Unknown

Will your book be self published or represented by an agency/publisher?

I am actually planning on self-publishing this book – and the series. It is a big step for me, but I feel it is the right thing to do and I am very excited about it.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I’m still writing the first draft. I actually started in January this year, and I’m not even half way through yet. I hit a wall with it – because I am a very naughty punster – and decided to put it to one side to concentrate on other projects, but my plan is to continue with this book and get it finished and published in 2013. Wish me luck.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I, personally, haven’t read any books that are a similar genre to this book. Doesn’t mean to say that readers wouldn’t know of any books that would be similar in some way.
"Rogue & Gambit" - X-men

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

After I decided I wanted to write a superhero book I started thinking about the reasons I love superheroes and the ones they loved. My favorite couple has always been Rogue and Gambit from X-men. I adore them. So, they were the main reasons along with my love of the popular television show Smallville, which I thought was amazing. Love it. Bought the complete boxset as soon as it was available, and yes, I did fall for Oliver Queen who is played by the ever so talented Justin Hartley who I really would cast to play my leading bad boy.

What else about your book might interest the reader?

The generation breed series is a world where the population is divided by humans, and genetically modified humans. Society is segregated due to these “dangerous” group of individuals. Life  is unfair, and times are hard. Science and technology are the only areas that have really developed since the twentieth century.

We have crime, violence, discrimination, action, scientifically engineered shape shifters, vigilantes, and of course, romance.

And I cannot wait to share it with you all. :-)

I won’t be tagging anyone to continue with this hop. The main reason being that next Wednesday is Boxing Day, and I think it is only fair that everyone be left in piece to enjoy the festive holiday. Many apologies for not continuing this hop.

Wednesday Briefs: Truth or Dare?

I'm afraid I had to skip last weeks instalment of Wednesday briefs due to be idiotically busy again. So, many apologies about that. Needless to say that today's post is continuing from where we left off a fortnight ago. Once again I would just like to point out this is super rough writing that hasn't been double check or gone through edits . . . at least not yet.

This weeks prompt is: "What did you just say?"

Enjoy!

Truth or Dare?

“I’m not playing with you.”

I tensed as he straightened. My arms automatically flew to my chest, a weak attempt to create some much needed space. Something that was hard to achieve when I was still sitting on his lap. With a smirk he leaned in and brushed his lips along my jaw.

“Why?” he whispered.

A shiver ran down my neck. “Because I hate you, remember?”

He pulled away enough so that he could look at me. He cocked an eyebrow. A smirk curled at the corner of his mouth. “You hate me so much that you just had your tongue down my throat?”

“This”-I waved my hand between us-“was a dare that your stupid brother gave me before he ran off. All of this was brought on by your stupid idea for a crap drinking game.”

“You’re not having fun?”

With a scowl, I placed my hands on the arms of the chair, and pushed. Trey tightened his grip on my hips, keeping me in place.

“Get. Off.” I sunk as much iron in to my tone as I could muster,

“So, that’s it? You’re just going to go off in a huff and not take this once in a lifetime opportunity to ask anything you want?”

“I have nothing I want to ask you, and if I did, you would probably lie anyway.”

“I’m drunk. Drunk people tell the truth.”

“Like hell they do. Besides you’re not that drunk.”

“Then dare me something.”

I snorted. “No, because I’m not that drunk or stupid.”

“Come on, Danny. You can dare me to do absolutely anything you want; anything you desire.” He slid his hands down the side of my thighs, and back again. “Dare me to kiss you.”

“No.”

“Dare me to touch you.”

“You’re already touching me too much.” And oh, how I liked the feel of his hands on me. I just hated that my clothing was too thick a barrier. I wanted to see how smooth her rough his skin was against mine.

“Then I dare you to dare me to spread you wide and bury my head between your thighs.”

I opened my mouth only to close it again. Words fled me only to be replaced with glorious scenarios of him making good on such a dare. My clit pulsed.

“But don’t you dare sit on my lap and tell me you haven’t thought about taking me for a ride, because I’ve thought about it. I can’t even fucking count how many times I thought about palming this gorgeous ass of yours while burying myself balls deep inside you.” He dragged me to him; lifting his hops slightly so I could feel his jean clad erection rubbing against my covered core. “You make me so fucking hard, Danny.”

My breath hitched as he rubbed against me. Want burned deep inside.

“Ever since that night when you kissed me in the club-”

“You rejected me.” The words feel from my lips before I had a chance to stop them.

He shook his head. “You ran away.”

“Did not.”

“Did too, but it doesn’t matter, because you were drunk.” He ran his hand up my side, slipping it beneath the material of my t-shirt. “I want you sober enough to know that it is me making you scream.”

My throat felt so dry. “I-I’m drunk now.”

His fingers danced over my ribcage. “Not like you were that night.” He cupped my breast, swiping his thumb across my beaded nipple.

My eyelids fluttered shut, and a soft moan slipped from my lips. “Trey?”

“See, sober enough for me.” He pressed a kiss to the hollow of my throat. “Just stop pretending and tell me the truth, Danny. You want me, right?”

I tilted my head back; giving him access to my throat. “It’s not my turn to answer questions.”

“Just answer.”

Part of me wished I was drunk, because then at least I had something I could blame all this idiocy on. It was better that this be a drunken mistake, then a regret. Better that the veil of alcohol distort the details then being able to remember every touch, whisper, and movement.

Lying would be the easy option; anything that would get him out of my apartment so I could wash away the feel of his lips on my skin. God his lips, feather light and yet sinful. Would they feel as good on more sensitive areas?

Two years of bantering. Two years of fantasising. Two years worth of batteries for a toy that never took away that deep forbidden itch.

The real question was, would I be able to cope if I let this opportunity slip through my fingers? If I let the sexy bastard between my thighs walk away?

“Danny?” He brushed his lips against my neck. “Give me an answer once and for all.”

With a ragged breath, I brought my focus back on level with his. “I dare you to find out for yourself.”

Uncertainty flitted across his face. He blinked. “What did you just say?”

“I said . . .” I moved my hand between us and cupped the bulge that was tenting his jeans. “Yes.”

Until next week!

Wednesday Briefs: Truth or Dare?

Today's flash comes to you late again. Many apologies. I did plan to have the next segment of "Truth or Dare?" whipped up yesterday so I could post it this morning, but that didn't happen.

As always I would just like to warn you that this is the first and very rough draft - lots of mistakes included - of a little side project, which I have chosen to work on every Wednesday as part of my flash fiction group. Know that I am very aware it needs a good editing, but like I said, I have left this to the last minute again. So, it has just been the case of write, and post.

The prompt I decided to use this week was: "When did you become such a . . .?"

I hope you enjoy!

Truth or Dare?

My heart pounded like a jack-hammer against my ribcage. The hit of amber liquid didn’t seem to be enough to steady the nerves that danced through my entire body. I felt a slice of lime being dropped in my hand, and the world suddenly turned hazy as Trey retrieved the segment from my palm and placed it in his mouth.

I gulped. Heat flooded me and I wasn’t entirely sure it was alcohol induced or the effect of sensual brown eyes locked on to mine; twisting with unmistakable desire.

Straightening, he clutched me tighter; holding me against his chest. The air caught in my throat as he leaned in. I stilled. Afraid he would hear the wild beat of my heart, which currently seemed to deafen me.
He arched an eyebrow. The movement pulled my focus back to his eyes; a flicker of amusement danced there.

“Chicken shit.” His words laughed through my mind as the corner of his mouth curled.

Dropping my shot glass at the side of us, I cupped his head, and leaned in; catching his mouth with mine. He opened to me without hesitation. The bitter taste of lime flooded my mouth, mixing with the after taste of tequila and salt. The concoction had never tasted so delicious.

I shifted on his lap. The movement caused a groan to emanate in the back of his throat as I rubbed against his covered erection. He slid his hands up my back, his fingers tangled in my hair as he deepened the kiss.
I could feel the segment of lime trapped against his cheek. Its juice running into my mouth as our tongues tangled.

“Okay, so we’re going to go.” Kathy’s voice sliced through my mind, and I suddenly remembered we weren’t alone.

“No.” I squeaked while attempting to untangle myself from Trey’s clutches. “Stay.”

“It’s getting late.” She stood up.

I shoved at Trey’s chest. With a growl he released my mouth. His hands wandered back to my waist; holding me in place.

“Stay over. I don’t mind.” I twisted in his grip, watching in fear as Kathy pushed Benjamin toward my front door. “I can make up the sofa bed.”

“I have to be up early tomorrow. I have a lot to do.”

“Like what?” Ben asked while he pulled his jacket on.

She gave him a pointed look. “Just some stuff.”

“What kind of stuff?”

“Since when did you become such a nosey bugger?”

“I-“

“Can’t it wait?” The tone of my voice was practically pleading. The weight of Trey’s hands on my back as he held me against his erection had me shivering. Whether it was from fear or anticipation, I had no idea.

“I really wish it could.” She opened the door and ushered Benjamin out of the doorway. “But it can’t. I will call you tomorrow, okay?”

“Kat!”

“Bye.” And with that she shut the door leaving me with the hottest and most annoying man I had ever known, or wanted.

“So, truth or dare?” His voice rolled over me.

With a clenched jaw I turned back to him. “Games over.”

“Not for us, baby.” Without taking his focus from me, he spat the lime slice on the floor. “It’s only just begun.”

Until next week!
