Happy New Year & What's New for 2018

I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and have set some fantastic goals for 2018.

A lot of people are saying it, but where the hell did 2017 go? This year has just gone so quickly, it's insane.

Newsletter

I decided last year it was time for me to start a newsletter as I often wonder if people are actually seeing my facebook or blog post etc. the way social media is sometimes, well, posts can be missed and that's not fair on you. At least with a newsletter it is going straight to your email accounts and you have the option to hold on to any of them.

So, the plan is that I shall be sending a newsletter out every 3 months; January, April, July, and October. Unless something super exciting comes up or I naturally have a release due then there might be the odd sneaky one slipped in, but those main 4 will be updates.

As a thank you for subscribing to my newsletter you will automatically be added into my subscribers giveaway. With the help of Random.org a name shall be selected every 3 months from the list of my subscribers and the winner will be announced in the next newsletter.

So the winner of this months prize will be selected in April and announced in the April newsletter.

The first prize I'm giving away is themed on my debut novella, Razel Dazzle. It only seemed right this being my first newsletter. The selected subscriber will receive a book quote tote bag, a signed copy of Razel Dazzle and a custom made bookmark.

WIP & Releases

2017 was a slow year for me when it came to writing. Actually scratch that, it's been my slowest year as in I published nothing at all. It doesn't make me feel good. I feel rubbish about it, but it is just the way the year went and I can't do anything about it now.

Just because I haven't published anything new this year it doesn't mean that I haven't been writing. I go into some slush pile projects every now and then and add bits, and since I published Blood Secrets back in April 2016, I have spent a year and a half chipping away at Cross My Heart: Blood Book 1.5. The reason it has taken so long is because of stuff that's been going on in my life and where my head has been at, but I don't like the fact that yet again there has been a huge gap between the last and next release in this series, but I also dont want to write any old rubbish just for the sake of getting the book finished and released.

So I apologize for the delay of the next Blood Book and once again, thank you all for your patience.

Needless to say my biggest priority this year is finishing AND publishing, Cross My Heart. I can't set a date yet. I set the word goal for 30k. I'm already over 15k, but as with all of my goals I will probably go over 30k so for no lets just say I'm aiming to have this book finished by summer and for release in Autumn at the latest.

In other news for 2017, I received the rights back for two of my stories; Truth or Dare? which is a 10k short story, and my novella Stepping Stones. I will be re-releasing both of these books in 2018. For those of you that have already purchased them please note that the stories haven't changed. The main change is to the pricing.

Update & weekly fun

Hey everyone :)
It's been a while since I dropped in and gave y'all and update.

Cross My Heart (Blood Book 1.5) is still a work in progress.... a slow one, but still coming along. You can find updates and teasers etc for it on the Blood Series Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/TheBloodSeries/

Truth or Dare? my short erotic romance is still with my editor so once I get it back it will be going straight up for sale. The story hasn't changed but it has a new cover and it will be available at a lower price. For more details: http://www.e-morgan.com/truth-or-dare.html

Now as you may have guests by the above writing is still a slow process for me at the moment due to my fay job being time consuming - and often exhausting - and I have become a bit of a ghost lately; only coming on to social media to promote other authors work. So knowing this, and wanting to be more present online I came up with a plan to do something every day of the week which means that a) you can ask me questions, b) i'm writing and sharing it with you, and c) you know I havent dropped off the face of the earth.

So starting from today you will start to see the following graphics, on here and on FB etc below each photo you will find an explanation.

Q&A Opportunity: Ask me anything.

Yes, I mean it. You can ask me anything to do with... published books, WIP, writing in general, or personal questions. In saying that though I will draw the line if a) I feel that an answer will spoil upcoming books, or b) if you ask me something too personal.

I will share a teaser from Work in Progress' only.
So it will be teasers from all unpublished manuscripts. Nothing from already published books.

Give me a sentence; it can be dialogue or any form of description... the deadline will be midnight. All comments before midnight I will take them away and write a small story - about a paragraph - using all your comments and I will post the completed story on Saturday for "Saturday Snip."

So you can be as crazy as you want....
"Is that donkey wearing a tiara?"

If you write that in the comments before midnight it will go into the story. Have fun with this.

Discussion Opportunity

What genre would you like to see more of; what creatures etc?
This can be in general or what you would like to see me write about.

What type of stories do you enjoy? What's your favourite genre? What books would you like to see made in to TV series or films... or which ones weren't you happy about?

Yet again, doesn't have to be to do with myself or my books. This is just an opportunity to discuss books and why we love them so much.

Self explanatory. Fridays will be dedicated to author friends and their amazing books.

Saturday snip is the short story I will have created using all your suggested dialogue or description etc from this weeks Wildcard Wednesday. (See above.)

I will aim to have this posted by midnight each Saturday.

Sexy Snippets are seven sentences, taken from a work in progress, or published book, brought to you every Sunday but a handful of authors.

You can read more about that here:  http://sexysnippets.blogspot.co.uk/

So there you have it; that is the plan moving forward. So when you see any of those images be it on here or facebook, twitter etc. do stop by and participate in the fun.

So as it's Monday... feel free to ask me anything you like ;)

Update on why I'm so silent

So it has been a long time since I have done an update post. I think the last one I did was after Blood Secrets (Blood Series: Book Two) was released?

At the time of Blood Secrets release back in April 2016 I had applied for a job, which I was offered and accepted; the first six months - my probationary period - was a little nerve wrecking as all probationary periods are, but needless to say, I passed with flying colours and went in to 2017 knowing I had job security.

Why am I telling you this? Well, I think you all know by now that I have always had a day job; those jobs I do full time and although I wish it were different, writing is a part-time/side "job" for me. I enjoy my new job; I'm a supervisor and I have very flexible shifts, but due to the nature of my job - working evenings in to the early hours of the morning - and being in charge of organizing events etc needless to say that my time for writing has been squished down to "when I get a chance to, I will."

This might not sound surprising to you as you all know by now I'm not one of these authors that is publishing a book every month - god I wish - and although I know I don't have to explain myself since I have a life outside writing, but also all authors work differently and can take anywhere between weeks and years to write, complete and publish a book; I like to keep you in the loop, and also I like to apologize for the delay and to thank you for your patience and ongoing support. I know some of you are eagerly awaiting the next Blood Series book and I hate to keep you waiting. It may not seem like it, but I want it finished just as much as you do; the good news is I have started it and I am hoping to finish and publish it this year, but it dawned on me the other day that it has already been a year since the last book, Blood Secrets, was released and I felt sad about it - and freaked out by how quick this last year has flown.

I apologize from the bottom of my heart for the delay with the next book, but please know, I am 2 chapters in already and I do keep posting teasers on the Blood Series Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/TheBloodSeries/

So the silence is due to not having much to really update you on at present; at least not in the book sense.

What else is happening/in store for 2017?

My website has been freshened up: www.e-morgan.com

I recently received the rights back for my contemporary erotic romance, short story, Truth or Dare? which I plan to slap a new cover on and re-release this summer.

I will be getting the rights back for my sweet contemporary romance novella, Stepping Stones, which I will be re-releasing before Christmas in paperback as well as an ebook.

If you live in the UK and would love to attend a free Author Signing Event I've organized - affectionately known as SASE - on Saturday 23rd September 2017 then check out the details here: www.booksigning.co.uk

Lastly, I'm writing the next book in the Blood Series, Cross My Heart (Blood 1.5). At the very least I aim to finish it this year; at most I hope to publish it around Halloween, but if not then it will be early 2018. So send me creative energy and good vibes. :)

I shall aim to update y'all a little more often and with happier news.

Thank you once again for being awesome and supportive readers!

Cliffhangers

The end of Blood book two is in sight and since I am drawing close to those two beautiful words, "the end," I decided I wanted to talk just a little about cliffhangers. And if you have read either or both of the books in the series you will no doubt understand why.

Cliffhanger n film, game, etc., that is tense and exciting because its outcome is uncertain.

That is the dictionary explanation for what a cliffhanger is.

Now for those of you who have read the prequel (She-Wolf) and Book One (Cranberry Blood) in the Blood Series, you will know that the endings aren’t clean cut and final; they are left open, or how I like to see it that section of the story is tied up but very loosely.

Since I am a chapter off the end of the second book in the series I just feel that I need to throw this out there - more so for those of you who are new to the series - just so everyone knows what to expect going in.

I suppose in a way the books - though all of them so far are 70,000 words + - are kinda like serials; they are instalments of one BIG story arc. Each book leads on from the other. Some overlap - for example the last chapter and epilogue of Cranberry Blood overlaps with the prologue in Book 2. Each sequel continues from where the last one left off, which is why you will find that the endings of the books aren’t so clean cut and are very much great big fat "to be continued" endings.

I realize that most books in series standalone - even though there is connections - so it might feel strange heading into a series that is almost in the format of television episodes, but this is just how the characters and the story showed themselves to me and this is just how this series is. I mean, I could have tried to write it all as one HUGE book but since She-Wolf is round the 70k, Cranberry Blood is 93k, and Blood 2 is currently 108k and rising - and I haven’t even started the final book or the two novellas that are also planned - I think that would be a rather over facing book for anyone.

So, the Blood Series is a series, but there are cliff-hangers and the books are more instalments of one story. So you have a beginning - Cranberry Blood - a middle - Blood two - and an end - Book three - but you also have a prequel to the main arc - She-Wolf - and then there are two novellas which will take place in between which cover situations and characters that run parallel and are entwined with the main arc, if you get what I mean by that?

I'm sorry if it's frustrating that the books end in such a way, but it is just the way the series is. I just hope that despite the open endings you do at least enjoy the story so far. J

I am a chapter off the end of Blood Book Two. I intend to finish it in the next four days, and after having one last read through I will be sending it off to my editor. I stated on the Blood Series Facebook page that on completion of the book I would release the title. The cover and blurb reveal will take place after my editor has finished her first round of edits and I will have a rough idea of a release date.

If you don’t want to miss out on Blood Series updates, or would just like to stay in the loop, do make sure you "like" the Blood Series Facebook Page as this is where I post all news and goodies first:

Where is Blood Book 2?

Due to the lack of updates and promotion on here, my website, facebook, and all my other online homes I think it might be safe to say that what I am about to say will come as no surprise.... Blood Book 2 will not be releasing this month.

*hangs head in shame*

Since my last update post, which you can read here, things have gotten... I'm not going to say worse, because the things that have happened across the last two and half months - as unwelcoming and hard as they have been - are indeed fixable - and I have been working hard to fix these little bumps in the road. While trying to deal with life and all that is going on at the present moment, I have been adding words to Blood Book 2, but unfortunately due to these outside problems I haven't been able to meet my deadline. I hate that I haven't. I hate that I am having to tell you - yet again - that the date has been pushed back for Blood Book 2, especially because some of you are eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the Blood Series.

When I made all these decisions for my life back in May I was under the conclusion that things would have worked out the way I had planned - foolish thought really - which included that I would now be super organized in regards to my writing. My writing was why I made these decisions. You see I had this idea that I would roll out of bed each day and just make words flow. I never included the need to eat or go for bathroom break, off chance visits from family or friends, phone calls, bad or unwanted news that may arrive, how I would feel on a day to day basis etc. Reality wasn't included in this plan. And although I am not a disorganized person - because I'm not - things just haven't clicked and gone as smoothly as I would have liked.

So firstly I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for the delay with this book.
Secondly, I am making a promise to both myself and you, my wonderful readers, that I will never set a release day or hint at a release date for any of my upcoming projects until I am on the last chapter of the story.
Thirdly, Blood Book 2 will be released before the end of 2015. Even if it is New Years Eve. December 31st. This book will be released. My god, it will.

I have - by the look of my notes - got about roughly 5 - possibly 6 - chapters left to write. The End is in sight. I am almost there. Once I have sent the manuscript off to my editor for edits I will be able to sort the cover reveal - prizes and fun ;) - and set a release date for real.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of rubbish news. Thank you for your patience. I hope when you do read this book you will feel it was worth the wait.

Have a wonderful week. And keep your eyes peeled for my victory "I'm finished" post. It will come. :)

2015 Release Schedule Update

I have promised you all an update for the last few weeks and here it finally is.

I did not plan to have two books releasing so close together its just kinda happened that way. This year is the first in a couple of years I have actually been able to write something new, well, almost new; Blood Book Two. The last two years - with one of my publishers closing - has been spent on polishing and re-releasing the books that I had received the rights back for. So, it's been nice to actually write again, but that is not what I'm blogging about today. It's time I give you an idea of what the heck is going on with this release schedule of mine.

Creak

I received the rights back for my erotic suspense novella early May. I have been undecided in regards to when I want to re-release this book as it wasn't in my plans for this year. At first I thought I would sit on it and release it on Halloween, and then I thought well what is the point in doing that when not much needs to be changed it just needs another scene sliding in there. So the aim was to release it as soon as possible, and well, release it once my lovely editor was able to start work on it with me.

We have started edits on Creak. As stated above not much needs doing with the story, but my editor and I feel that it just needs another scene in there to tighten the story that extra notch. We have both agreed on a date I had in mind to re-release the book; early September.

The exact date and details etc will be revealed this Thursday 13th August during the cover reveal on Facebook, which you can join: https://www.facebook.com/events/1156070317743574/- I will be sharing excerpts and holding a little giveaway to celebrate the reveal, and would love if you could join me.

Blood Book Two

I had hoped to have the book finished by now, but my recent change in circumstances - which I do not regret - started off somewhat smoothly and then just kinda veered on to a rocky road. It's been a little stressful the last couple of weeks. I have had to cancel an event I really wanted to attend, and well, look over a lot of stuff, but everything is fine and will be fine in the long run. Onward and upward.

Other than outside forces at work; Blood Book Two is proving to be a lot longer than I first thought. I think mainly because we have four character POV in this novel, so in one sense there is a lot more going on then there was in She-Wolf and Cranberry Blood. Also it's a little to do with me freaking out. I think I am allowed to admit that, right? As some of you may know from interviews and guest post back when She-Wolf (prequel) and Cranberry Blood (Book one) were released I mentioned there has been quite a gap between those two books and this one - five years exactly - and that was due to issues with my previous publisher.

So, although Book Two overlaps with/continues from Cranberry Blood meaning no time has passed for the characters; for me, five years has passed. My voice has changed - hopefully improved - as a writer, and well, so many people have enjoyed Cranberry Blood - which makes me so happy - I'm feeling the pressure a little with this book. She-Wolf has had mixed reviews, but overall despite what people think of SW, Cranberry Blood has been well received. So yeah, I will hold my hands up I have gone back to the beginning of Blood Two a couple of times and re-read, tweaking along the way, and hoping to god that you, the readers, will enjoy the next instalment of Heather and Brendan's story.

If there is one thing I have learnt - because as a writer you are constantly learning along the way - I will never take breaks between books that are intended to be a series. The reason there was a gap with this series was simply that it took a year to get She-Wolf published, a year later Cranberry Blood was and then after CB had been released with my ex publisher all hell broke loose at the publishers and it took a year to get the rights back, and then a year to polish and tightened and re-release them both.

I have learnt.

So, I firstly want to apologize to those of you who are eagerly waiting the release of Blood Book Two. I wanted so badly to stick to my Summer release goal and at this point in time I'm still not 100% sure if I will be able too.

I had planned to release Blood Book 2 at the end of September. Now, there is a chance that I may still be able to keep that promise, but as stated above Blood Book Two is proving to be longer than expected - which is hopefully a good thing - and with that in mind - and knowing how many chapters I have left to write - I'm thinking I may have to push the release back a month, so October. Mainly because I want to get this book as perfect as it can be, but also because I want to give my lovely editor enough time to edit. She has a life like we all do; plus she is an author herself, so I want to give her enough room and efficient time to work on the book with me.

So for now I am going to say that the book will be released at the end of October, if that changes and I am able to bring it back to the end of September then I will. But for now it's the end of October.

Another lesson now that I am self-publishing and sort of writing full-time, I think I am going to do what one of my favourite author duos do, which is write whatever book I am working on and then only set a release date when I am a chapter or so from the end. I hate disappointing people and with the luck I am having trying to be organized and thinking life will play along, well, I think it is for the best.

Good news; I have the cover for Blood Book Two, and naturally, the title. All I need to do - other than finish the book - is write the blurb - something I never look forward to. It's crazy that a blurb is harder to write than a story. Anyway, cover means cover reveal, which I plan to hold on Facebook mid-September; after Creak has been re-released.

Schedule for 2015

August 13th - Creak Cover Reveal on Facebook
Early September - Creak Release
Mid-September - Blood Book Two Cover Reveal Facebook
Late October - Blood Book Two Release

What Next?

As stated above I am no longer having gaps between books in series. So as soon as Blood Book Two has been released I will be working on Blood Book 1.5. Should I not start work straight away on the novella it will be due to a secret project that involves other authors, but it is still early so I will have to wait and see what is going on by October, but my hope is to get the Blood Series finished by the end of 2016, beginning of 2017. I have one or two standalone books stewing away and another series that I would like to work on. So, plenty of ideas and projects coming up in the next year or so, but for now keep your eyes peeled for details on the release of Creak and Blood Book Two.

Blood Book 2 & a surprise re-release!

The last time I wrote a blog I think I stated I was going to try and write at least one blog a week or fortnight.... and a month has passed. Yeah, epic fail on my part. So I'm going to change that statement to I will try and write at least one blog a month and hopefully it will be somewhat interesting.

The purpose of today's post is to say that I finally hit the half way point with Blood Book 2. Yay!

Well, for the sake of a goal I said to myself that the minimum length of this book would be 60,000 words. The book currently stands at 30,000 words, but I know for a fact by the time I reach the end it will be over 60K, maybe even 70K, but only time will tell.

Why have I only reached 30K? Why am I no further?

If you recall my last personal blog I was talking about making some changes to my life and well, I put things in action and have already started some of these new things I decided I had to try. So everything has felt very much up in the air at the moment and I feel like I can't quiet get my balance. It's been a tad stressful, and a little time consuming as I am trying to get to grips with chance, and balance my days and weeks out. Needless to say exhaustion has been a problem, and well, I've procrastinated a little. I know, it's terrible. I'm terrible. I'm aware I've been doing it so I am pushing myself to sit and at least try and write a couple of hundred words a day, and the last few days it has worked a treat.

So, 30K at present is the halfway point. If the book ends up being 70K then naturally the half way point changes, but for now all that matters is I am "halfway" through the book, and I have to say things are now going to start getting.... bloody. ;)

Will all this effect Blood Book 2 being released?

Nope. I always said that the second book in the series would be released in Summer 2015 and so it shall. All I will say is that it is more likely to be released in September instead of August, because I want to give my beta reader and editor enough time to read and do what they must. If it turns out the book will be ready for an earlier release I will of course bring it out sooner, but September is the tentative month of release, the date will be announced along with the title and blurb during the cover reveal. Yes, I have ordered the cover - I'm soooo excited to see what Mina Carter creates - which means as soon as I know it is ready and I am able to share it with you all I will be setting a date for the cover reveal. At this point in time I am aiming to have it at the end of June. So keep your eyes peeled for the invite. ;)

So basically, no one panic. I will be releasing Blood Book 2 this summer. So help me god, it is happening.

Did you mention something about a Blood Book 1.5?

I did. I have been dropping, well they aren't really hints, but I have been slipping those digits in every now and again. I always knew that there would be a novella/short novel between Cranberry Blood and it's sequel and the reason for that - and I don't want to spoil it for those of you who haven't read Book 1 in the series - is between Chapter 20 and the Epilogue some of the Pack go hunting around the UK and do something that will have consequences. So, while the main arc of the story continues with book 2, a sub arc will come into play for book 1.5, but it does tie in to everything that has happened so far and everything that will continue to happen. There is a new leading male and female and I have to say that from what they have showed me so far of their story, I'm itching to start writing.

The book also has a title, which means a cover has been ordered for it, but I won't be giving any details away until after the release of Blood Book 2. I am aiming to release Blood 1.5 in Winter 2015 and at the moment that is looking be December, but as always if anything changes you will know.

Surprise Re-Release!

Due to lack of/low sale the rights for my erotic suspense novella, Creak have been reverted back to me. Creak - which I originally classed as an erotic thriller - was an experiment of sorts. I wanted to write a creepy story. I'm not a horror writer, nor am I a thriller writer, that much is clear to me lol but I think I achieved the creep factor, which I was happy enough with.

So, I plan to re-release Creak this Halloween. October 31st. It will have a brand spanking new cover, and will be classed as an erotic suspense - it features a ménage, but it is more of a book that just has you feeling uneasy and unsure rather than scared out of your mind - and it will also be at a lower price. Yet again, I feel it was priced to high for the word count and so I will be rectifying that when I self-publish the book.

I think that is everything. Blood Book 2 will still be getting released this Summer. Creak my erotic suspense if getting revamped and re-released on October 31st, and by that point I hope to at least have the cover reveal organized and therefore news to share in regards to Blood Book 1.5. So, keep your ears open and your eyes peeled; more news to follow.

Hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. : D

Where I'm at... in life and with my WIP

So, I wanted to let you all know where I'm at. I feel that for the last few weeks I've been kinda quiet.... Okay, when I say quiet I mean on social media, not so much here on my blog which I very rarely blog on.

Firstly, I want to apologize that this blog has become more of a hangout where I feature other authors. I'm not sorry for having guest authors over, because personally I have found a lot of the books that are pimped on here interesting and have added them to my TBR pile. I am sorry that I'm not blogging enough about my own books, and the reason for that will tie in with what I am going to say below.

If you follow me on social media - Facebook, Goodreads, TSU or Twitter - apart from my posting links to guest authors you may - or may not - have noticed I've been rather quiet the last few weeks; not that I have ever been an author who posts constantly, but I don't know, I feel I haven't really been around the last few weeks and the reason for that is that I've had to do a lot of thinking about my life; what I want, what I don't want, what I think would be best for me at this point in time and I think I have figured stuff out, but it has kinda exhausted me, which is why I haven't been "around."

I'm an over thinker. It isn't healthy. It isn't always necessary, but I tend to go over and over things in my head. The decisions I have had to make recently aren't even drastic or huge decisions, but naturally they are the beginning of the process of change, and I think we all tend to get into a daily routine, we become comfortable with our situation, and sometimes - or at least with me - I become overly aware of that change. Does that make sense?

Once upon a time I had a dream. It was a big dream or well, my big dream. I kept this dream and worked at it all the way until the age of 18 and then I fell out of love with zed dream, and turned my attention to a smaller dream. I've worked hard at this smaller dream and love it, and I don't regret the way I have spent the last nine years of my life, but part of me has always longed for my big dream and it has taken me until this point in time to see that I have been scared, and have doubted myself, my talent, abilities and even my appearance and character. I have believed this dream to be impossible, which is stupid, because nothing is impossible if you are willing to work for it. I have settled for the routine that I have fallen into and I'm unhappy. I have depression. I hate saying it because people look at you as if you're wanting pity, or attention, or just saying it as an excuse, and they don't understand. I hate the way I feel most days. I hate the way I feel when I'm depressed; how much a part of me wants to give up because I can't cope. I have depression and it ruins things in ways that I never even thought possible. Part of me believes I've never followed my heart because of fear, but also because of my depression. I want to be a happier person, or at least someone who is content. I want to do things that make me happy rather than doing things because I feel I must or because I'm scared to stop doing them.

I still want to achieve my big dream and if I don't try now while my life is my own and I have few responsibilities, I will regret it.

So, figuring this out I have had to make a plan to sort myself out and my life, which I have. Don't worry, I'm not giving up writing. I wont stop writing or stop creating stories. Stories come to me so I believe I should write them. Why be gifted a story and an imagination if you don't use it or share them? I love writing. I love creating, but what has happened is - and I hate to ruin my mystique as an author - my day job, every day job I've ever had gets in the way. Since I started writing I have taken part-time jobs because I wanted the time to write and produce and publish books. I wanted the time and the energy to nurture my stories, but my day job ends up become my priority, and that's not right.

"Ignoring your passion is slow suicide. Never ignore what your heart pumps for. Mold your career around your lifestyle, not your lifestyle around your career."

I'm not 100% sure who said that or where I read it, but it stood out to me. Now, some people reading that will say, "it's not so easy." No it isn't. You need to be smart. You need to support yourself. We all have responsibilities. I have always been career orientated. When my friends were crushing on boys - and I did crush a little - I was dreaming. My career has always been important to me, and I am doing one fraction of it, but I am not spending my time or energy on my passion, and it is suicide. Every day I go into my day job I feel like my soul is curling up into a ball and slowly dying. That my sound nuts to you, but it's how I feel. I am bored, and drained, and fed-up.

So, I have made the decision to change jobs. I found a job that lets me choose what I want to work instead of being told what I'm working. I need a job because I have yet to write a big bestseller that will allow me to live off the royalties and write to my hearts content. So, until that happens, if it ever happens, I must have job. But my books are my priority. I want more time to write. It bugs me that I'm not hitting my wordcount every week. It bugs me that I can't manage to write two or more books a year for you all and myself. I said I wouldn't watch the progress of other authors and compare, but I can't help it. I don't write as much as I want for a number of reasons and it does bug me, but hopefully that will change and soon.

It is the lack of writing which means I don't write a lot of blog posts because I feel I have nothing much to say, but that's bad of me. Even if I don't have an essay to write I should still blog once in a while. So, I promise to start rectifying that. I promise I will try and write one blog every week or fortnight, but you will find I'm on Facebook more than anywhere else, and I might not say a lot, but I do post status updates more then I blog.

Being an author is one of my passions. Being an author, writing stories is my priority along with my big dream. Everything else has to fit in around them.

My big dream, which I'm keeping to myself, I am starting in this next month. I have a plan. I have a goal. This time next year I hope to reach that goal and then I will take the next step and then the next. It is a dream that - like being a writer - may take a while to lift off the ground, but I am determined to try and if I never get anywhere then at least I can say I tried. At least I can say I wasn't afraid to try.

I have no idea if I have confused or lost you, but to put it in a nutshell; I have been quiet the last few weeks due to make some decisions about the direction of my life. I feel better about what I have decided and I'm in the process of turning thoughts in to actions. And now that I have done that I can carry on with Blood Book 2, which I have unfortunately neglected due to feeling like utter crap and driving myself crazy these last few weeks.

On March 11th Blood 2 was up to 23.3k I haven't written anything since then. I have spent this last week reading through Cranberry Blood (Blood Series: Book One) to double check some things before I continue. I am still planning on releasing Blood 2 this summer. I tend to send my beta reader a chapter at a time, which I have already started doing so that when I finish the books, she will have almost finished the book and then I can edit and then send it to my editor. I find it easier to concentrate on individual chapters. It means I can tweak without having to go to far backward.

So far my beta is liking what she has read, which is great, but I am very aware that five years has passed between writing She-Wolf and Cranberry Blood and Untitled Blood Book Two, and I have to say I am nervous. From reading through Cranberry again I can see and hear how my voice has matured as a writer - which is a good thing - and I'm just kinda worried if that will ruin the story somehow. I don't think it will. The world is the same, the characters. The story is hopefully good and you will all hopefully enjoy it, but well, I'm an author. We worry about these things.

Anyway, I'm reading the last couple of chapter of Cranberry Blood tomorrow and then I am going to start reading from the beginning of Blood Two. So reading straight through from Book One to Two, and then I will crack on with the second instalment of the adventure.

Sorry for the rant, but even if it seems I haven't been somewhat absent these last few weeks I feel that I have and I felt it was only right to let you know why. And to update you on where I am at with Blood 2.

Thank you for your time, your patience, and your support.
You're all awesome! Have a fab weekend. :)

Update!

It's been months since I did an update. In fact  I think the last one I did was November last year. So bad. I apologize for my silence. The days go quicker than I would like, and I still find my time has been stolen by other matters, but I am in the process of changing that.

New/Latest Releases:

Razel Dazzle, my modern retelling of the fairytale Rapunzel was released in November last year, and my naughty little erotic short story, Truth or Dare? was released this January. Both can be bought from a variety of online retailers.

A BIG Update!

It’s taken me a little while to get to write this post because, well, my day job is continuing to consume time and energy from me, and I just haven’t found a moment to sit and write this update until today.

You might have noticed that the book covers for She-Wolf and Cranberry Blood, the prequel and first book in my Blood Series, have gone missing from this blog, my website, facebook, goodreads and well, are no longer available to purchase along with my sweet contemporary romance, Stepping Stones. Well, the reason for that is that Noble Romance Publishing has decided to close its doors and as of August 21st the rights to these three books have been reverted back to me.

Ever since last July my faith in Noble has slowly disappeared. I’m not going in to vast amount of details in regards to this, because I have no doubt you may have heard all about it from another author, but what I will say is after the release of Cranberry Blood I found myself torn about writing the untitled sequel due to what has been going on behind scenes. I felt that I didn’t want to write anything else that they would earn money from. So my only other option with have been to put the series on hold until the rights had run out, which would have been five years from now, and then continue. This was something I really didn’t want to do. I didn’t want to make anyone wait that long for the rest of the books.

So, as you can imagine I am relieved and thrilled that I now own the rights to these two books once more, which means I can now continue with the series without any worry.

Separate from receiving my rights back for the above, I requested the rights back to my debut novella, Razel Dazzle, in May this year, which is why you won’t find this story on sale, or see the cover anymore.

This book has hardly sold in the two years it has been published. I will hold my hands up and say that because it was my first book it didn’t get the promotion or attention it needed. And I will hold my hands up and say there could be a number of reasons for lack of sales, but the main reason, I believe, was the price.
Razel Dazzle is a 23,000 story, and it was on sale for $4.99. The price is too high in my opinion. Especially since Cranberry Blood is 93,000+ words and it was on sale for $5.99, which for that size I think is reasonable, but it is 60,000 word difference and only a $1 less. It made no sense to me.

So, in the space of five months I have received the rights back to four of my books. Exciting, but at the same time a little scary because it kinda feels like I’m starting all over again, but then again, what’s the harm in that? A fresh start is a good thing, especially when I originally had big plans for my Blood Series.

I guess the big question is; what now?

Razel Dazzle

I am in the middle of getting this book ready for reissue. Yep, I am journeying into Self-publishing. I always said I would if I got the rights back to my stories, and well, I did and I will be lowering the price of this story to well under half of what it originally was.

The manuscript is currently with a fab editor and friend of mine. I have a beautiful cover, which I can’t wait to show you all, and basically, I am at the beginning of sorting promotional material and tours out.
My aim is to release this book toward the end of October. I don’t want to set a date just yet until I get the notes back from my editor, and until I have everything sorted.  With this being the first book I self-publishing I really want to make sure that everything is neat and tidy, and at the best it can be.

So, as soon as I set the date you will know because I am planning on doing a cover reveal and giving this baby the attention it should have gotten the first time round.

Stepping Stones

My Sweet Contemporary Romance will be resubmitted the moment I have sorted one tiny little glitch out. So, more news on that when I have it.

The Blood Series

When I originally wrote these books I had so much in my head that I wanted to do in regards to releasing and promoting them. I have said it on many occasions, but Cranberry Blood was the first book I ever wrote, which means it has a very special place in my heart. So, I am more than thrilled that I do have the rights back for these books, because I will be self-publishing them.

For those of you who have read either of the books, or both, and are following the series I just want to say how deeply sorry I am that you have had to wait this long for the sequel or rather, to find out about the sequel. I never intended for such a long gap between books, but as I said above, I didn’t want to send my book to a publisher who I didn’t trust any more.

So, the plan for these books is rather simple; I intend to read through both, edit and tweak, and then send them to my editor. My hope and goal is to have them both out again early 2014 followed shortly by the untitled sequel.

I started making notes for the sequel ages ago. All I need to do is refresh my head a little and take it from there. I love these books. I am very excited to go back to them and I hope to have more news in regards to the sequel very soon.

Other news

Truth or Dare?

I am currently waiting for my edits for my erotic short story, “Truth or Dare?” which was contracted with Decadent Publishing. If you pop back on Sunday I might just be sharing a one off, sneak peek snippet. ;-P More news as I have it.

Let Me In (Work in Progress)

This is the project I have been playing with for longer than I would like to admit. I like the story, but it is slow going. Now that I have my rights back for The Blood Series my main focus is getting those books back out and getting the sequel finished.

I might dabble with this book in-between, but there is a big chance that it is going to end up on the back-burner along with a couple of other projects I have mentioned this last year.

I will get around to them, but The Blood Series is now my priority.

Update!

It's been a while since I have done an update post and the reason for that is that things have been a) hectic at the day job, b) slow progress is being made with projects, and c) things have basically been a little crazy all around.

I feel like every time I start one of these posts I am basically saying the same things, but the fact is life is just being idiotic life at the moment. I'm spending more hours at work then in front of my computer meaning that by the time I get home my energy is very low and words are rather hard, but in saying that, I am working on a new project at the moment and making slow progress, so it isn't all bad. Although, in truth, I also prefer to do updates when I have more than one thing to tell y'all, which today I do. ;-P

Coming Soon!

I briefly mentioned - somewhere - that I was working on a naughty little short story called Truth or Dare? Well, I finished it earlier on this year and I am thrilled to say that it has been contracted with Decadent Publishing. Yay!

Truth or Dare? is a fun and sexy little short. The leads, Dani and Cameron, are constantly working each other up in all the right and wrong ways. Dani has just moved into a new apartment and after the guests of her house warming party leave, Cameron suggests a little game of truth or dare, which is to be fuelled by some tequila. Who knows what they will get up to . . . ;-P

Yeah, I had some fun writing this one. ;-P No release date is set yet with the book only just being contracted, but you can be sure that once I have a date and cover and all the details, you will know.

For now, I shall leave you with the very rough blurb:

Do you dare tell the truth?

A house-warming party was the last thing Dani wanted, but what she didn’t expect upon clearing her apartment was to be roped into a tequila fuelled game of truth or dare.

Just harmless fun? Not when Cameron, the guy of her fantasies and the jerk who rejected her a year ago, is the one provoking her into playing.

When the game turns intimate and their friends leave them alone, thing suddenly turn serious. Is it bravado pushing them forward? The deep hidden desire for one night of fun? Or will a dare give both Dani and Cameron the courage they need to tell the truth?

~ * ~

Also, due to low sales - which I personally feel was due to the high price of the book - I have gotten the rights back for my urban fairytale/contemporary/erotic romance novella, Razel Dazzle, and I will be re-issuing it with a fab new cover - which I already have and boy, do I love it - and at a very low price.

I have no set date for the re-release, but I am aiming for the end of September/beginning of October. This will be the first book I will e self-publishing and even though it is a re-release I want to make sure that I do it right. So, as soon as I know the date you will. :-)

Work in Progress

I am still in the middle of writing Let Me In, which is another project I mentioned earlier this year, and I think in my last update. Let Me In, is a dark erotic paranormal featuring an Incubus and a couple of Succubus'. I did start this story in November, but due to work, and finding the right angle it has a while to get to that point where everything has just clicked, but I'm happy to say that it has, and that the story continues to slowly unveil itself to me.

I originally planned for Let Me In to be the first of three books, kinda like three parts, but at the moment there is a possibility it could be one book, or perhaps two. I'm still figuring everything out as I go. So, we shall wait and see.

I'm mainly concentrating on Let Me In at the moment. The Overseers Series is currently on hold until 2014. The reasons for that decision will be explained later on this year. All other projects - including the next book in The Blood Series - are on the back burner at the moment. Mainly because of lack of time and energy, which means that I have to move things around a little.

Giveaways!

I'm taking part in Decadent Publishings and All Romance Ebooks Shifter Month. What’s better than spending an entire month reading hot shapeshifter romance? How about celebrating the genre with Decadent Publishing AND winning a Kindle Fire? August is typically the hottest month of the year, and at AReCafe we’ve guaranteed August to win that title this year. We invite all romance readers to try new authors, new shifters, and enter for a chance to win!

To find out how you can go about winning yourself a Kindle Fire and some other goodies just head on over to ARE Cafe. I will be posting on August 9th and 21st and would love for you to come and join in the fun. :-)

And from August 22nd - 28th I'm taking part in Love Books! Blog Books! a fun blogoversary event with lots of goodies up for grabs.

So, that's everything for now. I hope you're all well and have been enjoying the sun no matter where you are. :-D

So long 2012! Hello 2013!

2012 has flown by in a swirl of new projects/ideas, tons of edits, and three releases. Throw in a day job and some family drama and that has basically been my year in a nutshell.

I've said it before and I will say it again it really does freak me out how fast the days slip by. Then again, I am one of these people who can't wait to see what is lurking round the corner.

This year has been an equal balance of highs and lows. I have learnt a lot both in a professional and personal sense and know that I have to head in to 2013 with positivity and trust.

My Monday post at "Not Just A Stiff Upper Lip" my joint blog with Dianna Hardy is all about what 2012 brought for me. I thought I would use this years last post on my own blog to talk about my plans for next year.

To kick off 2013 I have a book release. "Creak," my erotic thriller is due for release by Secret Cravings Publishing on (tentative) January 14th. This is my first "thriller" though I have to say it is more creepy than scary, which was actually my goal. It is also my first ménage book, and I have to say I am super excited for you to meet my leading males. ;-p No, I wont give any details, but you wont have to wait too long to meet them yourself.

I have four projects I plan to complete this year.

1) Truth or Dare? - This is a contemporary erotic short. It isn't plot heavy just a sexy little story that I have currently been writing as part of my Flash Fiction "Wednesday Briefs," but I plan to get it finished once I have the edits done and dusted for Creak.

2) Let Me In - A dark paranormal erotic . . . I originally planned for this to be a short story. Or a story that will be done in three short instalments  but after finishing the first part I started wondering if it would be better as a novella. I plan to figure that out and continue writing this story once I have finished Truth or Dare?

3) Charged (and possibly, Tainted) - These are two interlocking books in a brand new series, and one that I intend to self-publish. The genre is a little bit of a mash-up at the present moment. It lays somewhere between dystopian futuristic/ Paranormal/ Superhero, Romance. I will have a better idea once it is complete.

4) Watermaker: Book 1 in the Black Water Trilogy - New Adult/Futuristic/Romance. I have mentioned this book on and off. I wrote this book with a friend of mine three years ago. We have been batting it back and forth the entire time. I know have it back for editing  My goal is to get this baby contracted this year and hopefully published, because it's time.

They are the projects that I aim - and desperately hope to - complete in 2013. I've had a couple of ideas for fresh stories, but unfortunately I don't have enough hands, time, or energy to punch out a book a month. Believe me, I wish I did, but I don't. The problem with me is half of my ideas sometimes turn in to series and as you may very well know I already have two series out there, the first book in a co-authored series complete, and with Generation Breed in the making, well, any more and my head may explode.

What about The Blood Series?

I am plotting Book 2 which is currently untitled and as soon as the above 4 projects are completed - and I have no idea when they will be - I will be throwing myself in to that book. So for now, it is in the forming stage.

What about The Overseers Series?

I plan to write a few more books in this series, but at this point in time sales for book 1: The Collector, aren't very good. A part of me hates saying that because in all honesty that shouldn't matter. I will be writing and finishing this series no matter what, but sales do kinda help the project schedule  Next to no sales means an unpopular book. Place those numbers next to the two books in a series that is selling and well, the series that is doing well is more of a priority. So, The Overseers Series is on hold until further notice.

So, that is what I plan to spend 2013 doing. I don't know what else fate has in store for me, but I don't mind as long as I get those above projects done. That's fair enough, right?

I will be taking part in a couple of blog hops in the first couple of months. So, stay tuned for posts and news on them.

Resolutions? Continue to try and lose weight. It is such a cliché resolution, but it is the only one that I am making - yet again. I've managed to maintain my weight for two years. That's better than nothing, right? Who knows maybe this year I can push it a little lower. :-P

Do you have any resolutions or goals for 2013? Do you feel positive about achieving them?

I hope you do. And I hope you all have a wonderful night and that 2013 brings you happiness and success.

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop: WIP: Charged

The awesome Chris Lange tagged me last week in her TNBT post, and today it is my turn to tell you about either a) my latest release, or b) my current work in progress.

I have opted to talk about my current WIP, but as I have three different projects that I am currently working on I have decided to talk about the biggest protect.

What is the working title of your book?

Charged (Generation Breed: The Turning Point)

Where did the idea come from for the book?

In all and complete honesty the idea for this book began due to a submission call for superhero stories. I am a big fan of comic books. Every weekend my brother and I would watch the X-Men and Spiderman cartoons, and let’s not forget “The new adventures of superman.” I loved that series.

Needless to say, I’m a fan of this particular genre. So, I decided I wanted to write my own superhero story, but that was the simple part. Coming up with an idea that I was happy with took a good while, so long in fact that I missed the deadline for the submission, but that didn’t matter to me. I wanted to write this book.

What genre does your book fall under?

Excellent question, and to be honest I can’t currently place it. It’s dystopian futuristic with a splash of paranormal, and a heap of romance.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?

If I could pick, then Justin Hartley would play my leading male; Christopher Jackson. He is the right height, and build, and he has a killer grin that would work perfectly since Chris is a leopard. Playful, but feral, and totally yum.

And for my leading lady, Delaney Li, I would pick Isabella Leong. Yet again, she fits the bill perfectly.

Both Justin and Isabella are fab actors/actress and it would be super cool to work with them.

(Both images were taken from Google images search.)

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?

I suck at synopsis and blurbs, and since I am still learning about these characters as I go I haven't yet figured out the hook for this story. So, instead I will leave you with a quote that sums up the feel of the book:-

"People fear what they don't understand, and hate what they can't conquer." - Unknown

Will your book be self published or represented by an agency/publisher?

I am actually planning on self-publishing this book – and the series. It is a big step for me, but I feel it is the right thing to do and I am very excited about it.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I’m still writing the first draft. I actually started in January this year, and I’m not even half way through yet. I hit a wall with it – because I am a very naughty punster – and decided to put it to one side to concentrate on other projects, but my plan is to continue with this book and get it finished and published in 2013. Wish me luck.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I, personally, haven’t read any books that are a similar genre to this book. Doesn’t mean to say that readers wouldn’t know of any books that would be similar in some way.
"Rogue & Gambit" - X-men

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

After I decided I wanted to write a superhero book I started thinking about the reasons I love superheroes and the ones they loved. My favorite couple has always been Rogue and Gambit from X-men. I adore them. So, they were the main reasons along with my love of the popular television show Smallville, which I thought was amazing. Love it. Bought the complete boxset as soon as it was available, and yes, I did fall for Oliver Queen who is played by the ever so talented Justin Hartley who I really would cast to play my leading bad boy.

What else about your book might interest the reader?

The generation breed series is a world where the population is divided by humans, and genetically modified humans. Society is segregated due to these “dangerous” group of individuals. Life  is unfair, and times are hard. Science and technology are the only areas that have really developed since the twentieth century.

We have crime, violence, discrimination, action, scientifically engineered shape shifters, vigilantes, and of course, romance.

And I cannot wait to share it with you all. :-)

I won’t be tagging anyone to continue with this hop. The main reason being that next Wednesday is Boxing Day, and I think it is only fair that everyone be left in piece to enjoy the festive holiday. Many apologies for not continuing this hop.
